Briefly so far:

The GOOD:
Light, compared to my real books.
Great for reading PDF material.
New update looks fantastic.
I am able to use google app store, so am able to run READLY ;-)

The not so good:
No touch screen, but I knew that.
I wish there was a way to use the buttons on READLY to turn the next page. I can do this on the books/PDF, but as this is Andriod it is expecting me to touch the screen to turn the page, and currently I have to use the stylus when using this application.
Id love to find away of fooling the Android to allow me to use a button on this app to turn the page. Ha! Maybe create a thumb stylus band/glove to send that feedback to the screen. ;-) Wonder if it has already been done? Anyone? What material does the pen use to communicate with the screen?
This is where a touch screen would be better.
I was waiting for the goodereader 13.3 to be released but could not wait anymore.
I was concerned with the size of the memory on that device.
Resolution, this could be better, but it is perfectly acceptable, but we will have to wait for the new screens to be released in the future.


Summary

I purchased this expensive 13.3 e-reader for the sole purpose of reading my manuals, and for this it is working perfectly. I am looking forward to a software update to view two pages side by side.

I do wish it was touch screen for the Andriod apps, if i can find away to turn the page in readly i would be happier than using the stylus. But I can live with it, as it was not my main reason for purchase. And in someways that would be a distraction from reading my study materials. ;-)

I am looking forward to seeing the goodereader 13.3 to be released. I am sure it will work well ,considering that these devices use similar hardware/technology.
Concern there though is support/hardware/warranty and shipping to UK.

At the moment due to price I will have to wait for a couple of years for an upgrade. Better resolution and touch screen would be great for the App store.
However for my PDF reading and note taking I am very happy, and this new software is making it better and better.

I haven't tried this yet but two page view seems to be available somewhere in the menu.
About readly app, I don't know it but on a smartphone is it possible to turn page with volume button? If so you can do the same switching the function of onyx button on the android top bar on the right.

Just a technical comment. The hardware/technology isn't the essential in a device. The hardware AND the software are both important. The updates from Onyx for there different devices prove it. So 'wait and see' it's a good position, even if the hardware is fantastic on the paper.

I have installed the latest Onyx Boox Max firmware (02-12-2016).

Quite a few changes ! Especially for the Notes application.

It seems there is no more the possibility to use a pressure sensitive pen, there is only one pen available, with several width possible, but could not make any differences between pressing soft and hard.

Also, there are some new features next to the pen : line, circle triangle, square.
But I could not understand how they are working, selecting one of them and pressing with the pen did not make anything.

Do you know how to make use of the pressure levels and new features ?

I am very happy as it does what i brought it for, reading PDF.

It's not se great with Andriod apps, that expect you to touch screen.

I had a play.. Those boxes/circle etc only seem to work when editing a PDF. Does not seem to work in the scribble app. So bug/feature ;-)

Also since the upgrade cant seem to export the notes. Just drew a diagram and I have having issues doing this ;-) Think i might be being a wally, but it was easy before the upgrade. Any ideas>?

Actually, I am running V1.8 might have to downgrade to get my notes to export. Hope Onyx will fix this issue soon.

Damn. I installed it and now the M96 is not working anymore. After the boot I enter in Boox System Recovery <3e> I have some option, but no way to start again the ebook reader...

Yep I was excited today, thinking this would be fixed. But no...
I think i should roll back. Or get another NOTE app until they sort this out.

I found the 1.7.5 version on onyx boox max international website. I might roll back. But really think the neo reader v2 is great. But really need to export notes. So might not have any choice. ;-(

Any pointers where I can find this...
