The problem isn't that the battery drains too fast, it is that it drains so low that the device has to be sent back for servicing after. I don't think a warning is good enough for that problem.

That's like people rooting their device, people would like to do the tests, check which device doesn't work, etc... But primarily, Onyx needs to know that this function is really needed by its consumers! How many among you would be really interested in connecting your Boox Max to a USB device (flash disk, hard drive, keyboard etc....)? I update the list. I've already noted: @Jayjee, @Wong McGregor, @joblack, @xtech, @deb2016, @jlark, @huyggy, @desk7, @salarconurraca Please make a little post showing your interest if you'd like that. Booxtor (and Onyx) may reconsider adding this function if enough people are interested in (they think almost nobody is interested in it) Last edited by Huyggy; 11-29-2016 at 01:08 AM. |

I took the plunge.. Now the proud owner of an Onyx Boox Max.
Will start to post, time permitting on youtube. As i would have liked to see more on how it handled PDF before I brought. I will post my findings soon. But so far very very happy. It fits my needs very well. PDF reading/page turning is great using the buttons or stylus. And readly magazine APP is working ;-) just need to see if i can workout a way to turn pages on that using the buttons. Early days but very happy so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li8QuDiWGJw As for connecting via usb to a drive, no need yet for me todo so. Especially if it is going to brick the device! But give me some time to play. |

10.3-inch eReader
A slight off-topic, but perhaps interesting for someone who´s still looking for an ebook reader: https://getremarkable.com/
Their pre-order price seems quite ok, expected to start shipping around August 2017. |

I will try this out, so far loving the ebook reader, just having some issues with selecting/highlighting text in PDF and Annotations. So hopefully this will solve it. Be nice to have a Neo reader guide, but lets see what V2 does... Will play with it tomorrow. |

Wow 1.7.8 firmware is impressive!
I can now highlight and navigate pages much easier. I am overall happy with the ebook reader so far. I am still playing but will post my thoughts on the overall experience in the next week or so. I will do a pros and cons update. Briefly so far: The GOOD: Light, compared to my real books. Great for reading PDF material. New update looks fantastic. I am able to use google app store, so am able to run READLY ;-) The not so good: No touch screen, but I knew that. I wish there was a way to use the buttons on READLY to turn the next page. I can do this on the books/PDF, but as this is Andriod it is expecting me to touch the screen to turn the page, and currently I have to use the stylus when using this application. Id love to find away of fooling the Android to allow me to use a button on this app to turn the page. Ha! Maybe create a thumb stylus band/glove to send that feedback to the screen. ;-) Wonder if it has already been done? Anyone? What material does the pen use to communicate with the screen? This is where a touch screen would be better. I was waiting for the goodereader 13.3 to be released but could not wait anymore. I was concerned with the size of the memory on that device. Resolution, this could be better, but it is perfectly acceptable, but we will have to wait for the new screens to be released in the future. Summary I purchased this expensive 13.3 e-reader for the sole purpose of reading my manuals, and for this it is working perfectly. I am looking forward to a software update to view two pages side by side. I do wish it was touch screen for the Andriod apps, if i can find away to turn the page in readly i would be happier than using the stylus. But I can live with it, as it was not my main reason for purchase. And in someways that would be a distraction from reading my study materials. ;-) I am looking forward to seeing the goodereader 13.3 to be released. I am sure it will work well ,considering that these devices use similar hardware/technology. Concern there though is support/hardware/warranty and shipping to UK. At the moment due to price I will have to wait for a couple of years for an upgrade. Better resolution and touch screen would be great for the App store. However for my PDF reading and note taking I am very happy, and this new software is making it better and better. Paul |
