WTF... so three different people get three different treatments for the same problem.
Could it be that "Cynthia" is more than one person; that the entire support department mails by the name of Cynthia, and your treatment depends on whomever you happen to be in contact with? Poppaea: I can't remember; was your cover a black one with black lining, or was it a custom color and lining? If it was black/black, I'd expect you to get the same treatment as me: reimbursement. (Or a choice to get the other cover.) |

Nah, mine was custom made but I didn't think I had to be contend with taking a totally different style and thus wanted my money back. Well, they now agreed to send me a new cover in the style I intially ordered. As it has to be made again but she told me when I'll get it (by the 11th of Jan) and the email states it will be shipped urgently. They took out the sleep/wake magnet but the magnet that closes the upper lid will be stronger now. I asked for the sleep/wake magnet to be installed into my reader, but I am not sure they'll do it. I never hold the cover bend over double so it didn't bother me the first time and wouldn't now but I guess they don't want to give me any more reason to claim mine doesn't work properly in the future. ![]() I am totally agog if there really ever comes a cover or not. |

So instead of fixing the cover using a ferrite sticker like everyone else does, they just remove the sleep/wake function? Bizarre.

I'm still in doubt, by the way. I haven't put my ONE up for sale yet.
Should I order another third party cover, and see if it works well after the latest firmware update? Or should I suck it up and order the original cover, even though I don't like the flappy stand/lid? I don't remember which cover had the ferrite sticker; the Forefront or the Moko. I put down a review for both of them. One of them didn't work at all (no sleep function); that was *NOT* the one with the ferrite sticker. The one with the ferrite sticker worked when folding the cover back (reader stayed on), but was unreliable when closing the reader (not always putting it to sleep). Maye the new firmware made it more reliable. I don't know. PS: A ferrite sticker is a magnet block/dispersion, so the reader doesn't see the sleep magnet through the back of the cover. I've searched for it, but I can't find them anywhere. Maybe they have a different name. I call them ferrite stickers because they are stickers (duh), and contain ferrite. |

So it CAN work just fine... Just recently put the new fw on my kobo btw so have yet to test that more extensively (but the few days I have it installed it all seems to work fine) |

Find a video that shows this issue with firmware 4.2.8110 and I'll watch it to see what problem still exists. |

Maybe I'll re-order the cover that had the ferrite sticker in the back. If that one had worked reliably, I would have been happy with the KA1. If it doesn't, I'm not even going to send it back again I think, because it costs me half the price to package it up and drive it to the mail station. |

Thanks. It looks the same as all the other (cheap) covers. It's a slim fit cover. The ones with a flap to which I refer are the slide-in covers, that cover the bezels, like the Gecko Covers one. I want a flap on those so the reader doesn't slip out of it.
1. If you fold this cover backward, as far as it'll go, will the reader stay awake? 2. If you just close the cover, without paying attention if it aligns perfectly well, does the reader always go to sleep, reliably, and without turning pages? 3. If you close the cover, and then turn the reader upside down (back up, lid down) does the cover stay shut? (That is, does it make use of the magnets in the ONE's frame to keep the lid shut?) I *think* it's the same cover as the Forefront one which I got at around €12 or so, but if this one is reliable, doesn't turn the reader off when folded backward, and stays shut on its own, I'll give this one a go. I'd be glad if you could check this. If everything works, then the only problem the KA1 will have is the screen which isn't aligned straight; there's the gap between the screen and the bezel on the left, which isn't there on the right, but I think I can live with that. |

Yes, it stays awake when folded over and I can't feel any magnetic pull when I separate them again. It shuts down complete without taking care when I close it and it almost always is where I stopped reading. Sometimes when I turned a page just a moment before closing the cover, it will awake at the page before but I think this is software related. IIRC the Aura did the same thing. Yes, I can hold it upside down on the black rim of the back frame and the front doesn't move at all. It works really like it should. ETA I never used it in a bag though, so I don't know how good it keeps up when jumbled around. Last edited by Poppaea; 12-30-2016 at 03:04 PM. |

Thanks for taking the time to check this.
I've ordered the cover. At €17 including shipping it's a bit expensive for a China-cover, but that doesn't matter to me if it works as it should. I'll upgrade the Aura ONE, put it into this cover, and see if I'm happy with it for it to become my new full-time reader. If not, I'll sell it with the cover. I'll give it one more go. Selling the cover at half the price along with the reader, if it comes to that, actually gets me more money than sending it back. Last edited by Katsunami; 12-30-2016 at 03:13 PM. |

I do put mine in a bag & have had no problems, has stayed shut. Also KAO fell off a train table New Years Day, cover was open but shut it's self on the way down doing it's job protecting the screen. |
