Well, that decides it. I'm just going to keep the tablet, forget about the suspect packaging and enjoy the holidays. I hope you do too. Thanks for your help.

1. Amazon gives or sells BB a supply of empty, new packages.

On the single use package I have no clue.
But if Best Buy had sold me a used anything at a new price, I would be screaming to the rafters. (Actually that goes for any company).
On the cable, maybe the employee ran out of twist ties.
Since I don't know where the fires are packaged, it is entirely possible that the Packers are paid by the piece and not by the hour.

And if it wasn't resolved to my satisfaction, I wouldn't give them another dime ever.
But yet, you say the company is pulling bull, but you still spend money there.
You are still supporting him. I hope Jeff enjoys the cup of coffee you bought him.

Please tell me since everything you have bought from Amazon and Best Buy have not worked for you, why do you keep giving them money?
As I recall, you told the forum once that you didn't have the money to pay your bills, yet the second you get a credit card, you buy toys instead of food. I worry about you.
Just return the Fire and get your money back.

I guarantee when I was paying my rent $5 to $10 a day or half of whatever I made at work, I sure the heck didn't spend a single dime on a toy for me. I didn't have that luxury. Hell I was in hand me down clothes.
I know you have a disability. But hun, I have been where I was eating 3 times a week. You don't want to add those health problems.

I am now in a better place. My bills are paid first. Then groceries. Then any luxuries.
But since you asked so nicely.
$27.99 for a microwave to replace the one we bought in 1997. (Oh and we only got that one because we got some money from my father dying.)
Oh and yes the microwave is used.
Besides I have never said here that I can't pay my bills.

I went out and really looked over the review of the in question Kindle 7". Replayed it in several places. Yes, the fellow did open a sealed by Amazon box. BUT he does a close up of the power plug and there could have been a break in 'something strange' happening to the Fire. I do not believe he received a 'used' item. Think what kind of person would then go out and charge something to another persons account. Here folks to me shows me the honesty of that person. I personally think this is a Youtube video to make Amazon look bad. Just my 2 cents...but go back and watch the video..there is plenty of room to change the Kindle as it goes out of sight.

Now my blurb on refurbished Kindles. I have bitten into the Amazon kool-aid pretty big! I have purchase over 10 Kindles, that includes 2 Fire phones. My first Kindle was a K3. All have seen lots of use and all still work. I did have a problem with a Fire phone and it was replaced right at one year. I was happy, it came in a plain brown box but looked new. and has worked without any problems for over a year. In the past I have purchase many, many refurbed electronics and have found great value. Latest refurb, my Voyage. looks new and without any objectionable screen discoloration, Refurbs usually go through very strenuous refurbishing they do NOT want it back a second time. I can understand getting a bad or defective item out of the box. You send it back immediately! Otherwise with Amazon I believe a refurb has the same warranty as a new one, understand an item has a 1 year warranty and you send it back after say 6 months...you only have 6 months left for the orig. purchase, NOT another year.
All this unhappiness about getting a refurb you will get one that looks like new should act like new and maybe does not have any scratches like the one you sent back.

The point being that the envelope couldn't possibly be fixed to look like it had never been opened. So I guess in this case it's impossible to be careful if Best Buy has been given a supply of empty, unused envelopes by Amazon in order to assist in the deception. This sounds improbable, but from what you're saying, it must be what they're doing.
Does the packaging have specific information (ie Serial # of the unit) that's contained? If not, I think that you might be on the right track about Best Buy having extra packaging from Amazon. I think it would be highly likely that Amazon would supply extra packaging--not necessarily to aid BB in deceiving customers by re-selling refurbished units as new, but to replace packaging that's been damaged on store displays or in transit. If this is the case, Best Buy could certainly have used this packaging to re-sell a returned Fire in.

I agree with Breathinlady here. I have received/bought many refurbished units and have been very happy with them. If I hadn't been told they were refurbished, there would have been no way for me to know as they look and act just like a brand new item. If something is factory refurbished from the original manufacturer, I'm fairly comfortable in receiving that in place of a brand new item. Now I'm more leery of 3rd party refurbished units and will steer away from them.

This is my Gripe about Refirbs.... As You said They Only have the Warranty of the New item that had to be returned cause it Broke. So At 6 months the PW2 has Bright spots.... So Now the Refirb does the same thing at 6 months BUT No Warranty you are Stuck! My New Fire 10 Tablet Charging Port Breaks... So that leaves what A Refirb that Breaks 10 months down the road .... warranty dies 2 Months after you get it. So Now you got JUNK! & No warranty to get replacement!

Well IF you BUY a refrib then you Do Get the Warranty of the New be it 90 days or 1 Year! Totally Different than Having a Defective New Replaced with a Refirb! IF they send you a New Replacement You can at least add an extended warranty. But when they replace New with Refrib you Cant! So again you are SOL

Amazon is certainly not alone in the act of using the original purchase date to calculate the expiration date of a replacement device. Apple does this too. At least they did a few years ago when my iPad 1 (original model) quit working. Apple was very quick to replace it, even allowed me take it over to a nearby Apple Store for same day replacement. However, the expiration date of the warranty stayed the same based on when I made the original purchase. That might seem kind of like being short-sheeted, as they say, but if you think about it it is actually fair. I bought the iPad 1 and was given a one year warranty. The iPad 1 broke about 6 months after being purchased. So Apple determined it was not repairable and quickly replaced it. The replacement never broke, but if it had broken within the 12 month period of my original purchase, they would have replaced it again. I only paid for and received a 12 month warranty, and Apple fulfilled that warranty over the entire 12 months. So if my original iPad 1 had not broken until 13 months after being purchased, I would never have been given a replacement iPad 1. After all it would have had an expired warranty 13 months after purchase. But it broke 6 months after purchase. Had the replacement iPad 1 broken 7 months after being replaced at 6 months old, which would have been 13 months after purchase, Apple would not have replaced it. The agreement between me and Apple was that I would be guaranteed a working iPad 1 for 12 months. That is what I got. Extending the warranty out to 18 months (6 months plus another 12 months) would have been nice and very welcomed, but that would have been above and beyond what Apple had promised me with their 12 month warranty.

Totally agree, just an FYI were you positive you got a brand new tablet? Just my feelings if one receives a FACTORY refurb you are a winner. You came in with a used tablet and they made it right by replacing it with a working like new tablet. Kinda like a new car...drive it off the lot and it is used.
