Amazon UK Customers get tax break on ebooks

In case you haven't heard, Luxembourg will reduce the VAT on ebooks from 15% to 3% on January 1st 2012. This means those UK Kindle book shoppers should see lower prices in January. You may want to wait until then before making your purchases.

Of course, this will hurt WHSmith/Kobo as they have to add full 20%.

This may change in 2015 as tax levied will switch to country of customer and not retailer.

Nice one - hard to believe, really !

But does that (shock horror) mean that Amazon is a tax avoiding business ? Surely they've been helping us out by helping us by paying a lot of tax, they're known as a philanthropic organisation....................
