No. Not really. You may want to uninstall it if you have no use for it, but you don't necessarily HAVE to do anything about it (as long as the fonts you're ARE using are working correctly).

Actually it's an IBM font, been around since Gates was in diapers (literally).

IIRC it was on the Selectric Typewiter consoles that shipped with IBM 360's.

That's Courier (which is now free, by the way) and not "Courier New." Still... I was mistaken that Courier New's license is owned by Microsoft. It's in fact owned by The Monotype Corporation (even though it may have been taken directly from an IBM typewriter ball).
