I tend to agree with WT Sharpe. To me, for Amazon to offer the Whispersync narration on a book that you haven't even bought from them was largesse on their part. To go maybe a step further than WT Sharpe may have implied, I even would say that if the program is (from the sound of things, no one knows yet if it is true) permanently discontinued, we should be thankful that we had it for so long, and not be too down on Amazon because they won't let us do it anymore.

If whispersync with library checkouts is done that means I will be buying far less audiobooks going forward. All of my Audible purchases have been through cheap\free credits or through whispersync deals. My ears are sad.

I don't think this was mentioned in this thread yet, but there is a good deal on the all-time classic science fiction book, The Forever War, the multiple award winning novel from Joe Haldeman back in 1974.
