A heads up: borrowing a Kindle book from OverDrive is no longer working to get the Whispersync price at Audible. I saw someone post about this at Goodreads and tested it for myself. True, alas.

I know that we lost this function before and got it back; I can only hope it happens again, but....

Of course I'm regretting all those Whispersync deals that I meant to get but hadn't got around to.

I wouldn't cry too much about no longer being able to get the Whispersync Audible deal with a borrowed e-book from Overdrive. After all, the whole intention was to give a break to people who had bought the Kindle book from Amazon.

Yes, but sometimes when the library had both the e-book and the audiobook, I would borrow the e-book and buy the audiobook at the reduced price. Now I'm more inclined to just borrow the audiobook unless it's something I really want to own, which means a lost sale for Audible.

And if the library has only the e-book, I'm likely to pass on buying the accompanying audiobook without a price reduction--I'll either read the e-book or borrow a different audiobook. Again, lost sale.

Totally agree. I assume Audible has a handle on the elasticity of demand, but it will be seeing significantly less money from me. I'm clueless about the profit margins on Whispersync prices so maybe they're better off without those revenues, but I do know it added up to a respectable sum. Not untypically, I suspect, I didn't sweat over Whispersync purchases and in the course of a month would make several.
