The flea treatment I give the dog every month actually kills any fleas that bite him. He doesn't have any live fleas on him. Though he gets exposed every time he goes outside. The fleas have been terrible all summer, but it is only recently that they've become a problem indoors. I admit I tend to walk around my house barefoot and Tuesday night I looked and my feet and ankles were covered in bites. Put on a pair of white socks and walked around my "office" and sure enough lots of the creepy critters! *sigh*

I've been vacuuming and tried a carpet spray I got at Petsmart to no avail.

I was looking into finding some Diatomaceous earth, but haven't found a local place that sells the food grade. Lots of places have pool grade, but I know that won't work.

I'm pretty sure I have better a plan of attack in place now. Just need to actually get the stuff. In the meantime I just feel itchy. And I can't tell you the number of times I've pounced on the various freckles on my legs thinking they were a flea. This is particularly true at night once I take my contacts off

You can get DE from Arbico.com. Also, they recommend nematodes for fleas in the lawn. I know how frustrating fleas can be!

The height discussion was fascinating. I'm about average in my country (somewhere in Asia)—a bit on the taller side for females, in fact—but, no surprise, I'm considered petite most everywhere. (As long as height wasn't fetishized, I'd be OK with the book. Probably.)

I'm on the short side as well at 5'2". Step stools are my friend!
I've not read the book in question, but definitely would not be willing to read a book that "talked down" about a short person all the time. I would find that annoying (and rude!).

ETA: I noticed that there is now new challenges on the Harlequin my rewards site - andthey are the special ads for the 1.99 sale.

Grabbers are my friends. I bought a couple from the Dollar Tree a couple years back. I hate using step stools. I like my feet planted firmly on the ground.

The email I got wasn't specifically about the sale IIRC, it was mentioned in the Rewards newsletter.

It's a bit of an odd sale. The email had a graphic mentioning the sale and it's expiration etc (see attached a few pages back), but there seems to be no link to the sale books so a person has to go hunting on their own. You'd think they'd be advertising it on the main page of their site along with links to the books for each imprint (Presents, Intrigue, etc.).

Is anyone else sick the Instafreebie way of getting free books? I am sick of all the author emails I get. Just because I got one of their books free, I am now a huge fan? Yes, I unsubscribe.

I just read (well, listened to via TTS) Renegade by Lora Leigh. The woman was about my height but on and on the descriptions went, tiny, fairy sized...blah blah blah. My MIL is around 5' and yes she is pretty short, but I still wouldn't say she is tiny or fairy sized. LOL

I have a email I use just for author newsletters. I use that for Instafreebie.

It can't be worse than that book I read the heroine jumps on the hero and wraps her legs around him while he somehow manages to get her something from the fridge and move from this place to there all without her falling because she is little and short at five feet.

I tried to unsubsubscribe to one author who has been emailing every few days. But the unsubscribe link doesn't work.
