I'm really enjoying Some Girls Bite. Great world building, mystery and a spunky heroine who kicks butt. After reading The Hating Game I couldn't read another romance so this works perfectly. Urban Fantasy with some romantic elements.

Weekly Report:

Nothing purchased this week. And I'm dealing with a flea infestation in the house so haven't been able to concentrate on anything new. I've been rereading Jayne Castle's After Dark, but haven't gotten very far.

I also set out some preliminary reading goals for 2017 and slotted books for several of the AAR reading challenges. I find having a mix of specific and generic goals really helps me. But since many of my autobuy authors don't have their coming soon pages updated, it's a very preliminary list so far for next year.

Get some Diatomaceous earth (food grade) and sprinkle the carpets, upholstery and anywhere. It can be put on pets too. Wash everything you can in the washer. Pets can be given Capstar pills it will kill the adults. Then flea dip for eggs or you can take a flea comb through for eggs and kill them by dipping them in water with dawn dish soap (the basic blue kind). The Capstar does not do prevention but will kill adult fleas for four hours.

Fleas love to hide in furniture, blankets and carpet basically anything like that.

I know people who been infested from buying furniture off Craigslist or from a thrift shop. It can happen to anyone.

We had friends who returned home from a family funeral to find fire engines at their house because they left a bathroom fan running, the motor burned out on the fan causing a fire. They had to move out of the house for six months, and had much of their furniture recovered. The company that took care of the furniture repair stored the finished pieces in a barn on their property that housed feral cats. Unbeknownst to them, when the furniture came back into the house.... it came with new residents (fleas). It took them ages to get rid of them.

I'm sure the fleas hitched a ride inside on the dog. Or my nephew's cats brought them in (though they are inside cats). Then again, my neighbors house is also infested and they do not own any pets.

The flea treatment I give the dog every month actually kills any fleas that bite him. He doesn't have any live fleas on him. Though he gets exposed every time he goes outside. The fleas have been terrible all summer, but it is only recently that they've become a problem indoors. I admit I tend to walk around my house barefoot and Tuesday night I looked and my feet and ankles were covered in bites. Put on a pair of white socks and walked around my "office" and sure enough lots of the creepy critters! *sigh*

I've been vacuuming and tried a carpet spray I got at Petsmart to no avail.

I was looking into finding some Diatomaceous earth, but haven't found a local place that sells the food grade. Lots of places have pool grade, but I know that won't work.

I'm pretty sure I have better a plan of attack in place now. Just need to actually get the stuff. In the meantime I just feel itchy. And I can't tell you the number of times I've pounced on the various freckles on my legs thinking they were a flea. This is particularly true at night once I take my contacts off

Just don't swallow one. I don't want you getting a tapeworm. Maisy had that happen when we stayed at a hotel when we moved to Tennessee. I had to get her to eat a pill. Fun memories. I'm allergic to the bites. My mom's house is always infested which is why I stay away.

Be sure to get rid of any leave piles near the house. Oh fleas hate cold and hibernate in winter which is why they are in the house now.

Litsy has been way more fun that I thought it would be. For some reason the fact that I am a horrible typist on a phone, makes me keep my "reviews" brief and to the point. Makes it actually easier. It has also been fun to see what others read. I only have a handful folks I follow as of yet, not sure how I find more. I guess I could stalk the hashtag, but I always feel weird.

Blossom, I inhaled the first few books of the chicago vampires, it just gets better and better. I love the relationship between Merit and Mallory. I still read each installment as it comes out, but the first few episodes have a special place. It was just so funny when I read it. Merit cracked me up then as a "newbie"

I am atunah on Litsy for anyone that wants to follow me there.

You guys use that diatomacious earth on fleas, I drink it twice a day. . I buy mine off amazon.

I loved "Act like it". Adult characters, was refreshing. Witty too and I loved the setting.
