Today's freebie is an Edvard Grieg piece, Wedding Day at Troldhaugen, from the Peer Gynt album. It is performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Jerzy Maksymiuk is the conductor. It is a 6 minute piece. Remember that all of these YourClassical's free downloads are in the MP3 format.

I post these links on my blog or on FB once a month or so because I'm an affiliate at CreativeMarket and am often looking for good fonts at reasonable prices. If you are looking for fonts, templates, cute phrases -- it's a great site and every Monday, they have a free offer. This week's free font is one I can use. The fonts are always commercial use. For the other items, you'll need to read the licenses. Some are for 500 use only (basically for scrapbooking or home projects or very low sales), but they've been releasing some good Halloween stuff lately if you need that sort of thing. I believe this week's package is commercial use.

It's hard to believe that two weeks have passed by since we received the previous free download from Classical-music.com. But, that must be the case, because we receive a new one from them every two weeks, if I'm not mistaken. And I just received notice that there's a new one ready to download.

The new free download is Dinara Klinton plays Liszt's 'Feux follets':
This week's free download is Feux follets, the fifth of Liszt's fiendishly difficult Transcendental Études, written between 1826 and 1837. Liszt originally intended to write 24 studies, one in every major and minor key, though he only completed 12.

This recording by Dinara Klinton of the Études was named BBC Music Magazine Instrumental Choice in June. Malcolm Hayes writes: 'Possessing every ounce of technical resource that these fearsomely difficult works require, Klinton is able to deliver the music with a naturalness and freedom that really does amaze.'

My comments: this piece is lively and heavy on the piano. If you're cultured and sophisticated, you may have already known that from being familiar with the piece already. If you're like me, and are an unsophisticated bumpkin (you don't need to identify yourself if you are. ha), though, that might news.

Remember that all of Classical-music.com's free offerings are in the MP3 format, as far as I know. That is true with this one.

The free daily download from YourClassical is a famous piece by an even more famous composer. It is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's (I guess that I just could have said, "Mozart's," and everyone would have known who I was talking about, huh?). And even being the uncultured bumpkin that I am, I recognize the piece and know that it is famous.

The free piece is The Marriage of Figaro: Overture. It is performed, in part, by Capella Istropolitana, and conducted by Barry Wordsworth.

It is from the Naxos album The Best of Faure. The free piece from the album is Pavane. It is a nice 7 minutes, 46 seconds in length. It is in the MP3 format.

The Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra performs it, with Keith Clark as the conductor.

I've had prime for years now, and if something qualifies for Prime shipping, it's almost always within two days. It's usually more like one business day, especially if you order on the weekend. I've had stuff arrive on Monday that I ordered Sunday. Only times it's slower, it tells you checking out that it'll be slower. And even then, I've had it say eight days and it came in two anyway. (To be fair, I think they combined it with another order so it got shipped faster.)

Interesting factoid.

That certainly helps them get packages to a lot of places within 2 days, without much difficulty or without much cost to them (UPS, FedEx, and others are not like USPS. USPS does a lot of anywhere-for-one-price shipping (Parcel Post is a notable exception). With UPS, FedEx, and others, their rates are entirely or almost entirely based upon distance (what zone a destination is in, not the actual mileage)) unless that has changed since I closed my Internet businesses 6 or 7 years ago.

I know that Amazon's distribution centers in Texas must all be larger than anywhere else. The saying is that everything is larger in Texas. ha

Another interesting factoid: anywhere that you are in Great Britain, you are within 74.5 miles of the ocean. That has nothing to do with your post, I just thought that I would share that.

Relative to Amazon not having its usual discount on Prime for the Emmy awards....

It turns out there is an offer right now via the Swagbucks site for 1,000 Swagbucks (equivalent to about $10 in gift cards, depending on the brand) with purchase of a $99 Prime membership. The offer says it excludes "existing Prime members" - I don't know if this means simply "not current" Prime members, or means "not ever had" Prime. Not as good as a discount to $68, but something...

I myself had let my Prime membership lapse, and was looking to renew since I had some stuff I wanted, so I've tried this. I'll report back once I find out if I got the Swagbucks - sometimes it can take a few days.

For those not familiar with Swagbucks, it's an "earn points towards gift cards via searching, shopping, surveys, etc." site - very similar to Bing, but I don't like Microsoft. I've gotten a lot of Amazon gift cards through the site, just by searching and shopping - the surveys are too much of a time sink. I've found that their searches aren't quite a sharp as Google's, but usually good enough, and if I don't find what I want with their search, I occasionally use Google.

Google Play's got some newly marked down albums again. One is even 69 cents! The two best-priced (excluding classical anthologies) are both of dance/electronic genre. Not my "cup of tea," and wouldn't be played at any of the parties that I would go to, but I'm not everybody.

I placed an order on Tuesday, September 27, free two-day Prime shipping; there was no indication on the order page that the item required extra processing. But the confirmation e-mail gave me a delivery date of Monday, October 3, well beyond what I expected. When I got the shipping confirmation yesterday, the delivery date had been moved up to Friday, September 30. And then the package arrived early this morning--two days after the order was placed.

Generally Amazon has given me a correct two-day delivery date from the get-go, sometimes actually delivering in one day. I don't know why they started out this time with a delivery date nearly a week from the order date.

The same thing happened to me on Tuesday. I had four items in my cart and they were all two day Prime, not that 4 - 5 day Prime crap. I found that two of my items were truly 2 day an removed the other two. They were impulse purchases that I decided I didn't really need. I also ordered something yesterday that they said wouldn't get to me until Monday. I really needed it so I paid $3.99 to get next day delivery which it said was Friday. I got it today along with the items ordered on Tuesday.

I don't know what's going on with them. I ordered stuff earlier this month that was delivered on the Labor day holiday and also the Sunday before which was still the holiday weekend. If I see items that don't have a guaranteed delivery I usually won't order them. That's Amazons loss.
