There's a new YourClassical freebie available and, surprise, surprise: it's about autumn!

This piece is by Antonio Vivaldi. When I think of classical music celebrating the different seasons, I think of Vivaldi. This piece is Autumn: Adagio molto.

The piece is performed, I suppose that it is, by "Capella Istropolitana." Takako Nishizaki plays the violin. Stephen Gunzenhauser is the conductor.

With YourClassical's daily freebies being so new to me still, I did not run across information until yesterday about what time of day a freebie ends and a new one begins. This week's download features Franz Schubert's Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667, known as the Trout Quintet. Schubert composed this work in 1819, an estimated two years after he completed his lied "Die Forelle" ("The Trout") set to the texts of Schubart. The fourth movement of this quintet is a set of variations on the melody of "Die Forelle." This recording is performed by Jean-Jacques Kantorow (violin), Vladimir Mendelssohn (viola), Philippe Muller (cello), Duncan McTier (double bass) and Jacques Rouvier (piano).

There are five separate tracks that are free:
- Allegro vivace.
- Andante.
- Scherzo - Trio.
- Theme and Variations.

Google Play's got a Bing Crosby album, entitled Swinging on a Star, for $1.29.

The album is dated 2014. But Crosby's been dead a while--since 1977 to be exact. I don't see anything to indicate so, but this must be an anthology of his music. I spot-checked some songs on the album, however, and noticed that not only had many of them been hits of his in the past, but also they had been taken from different albums of his over the years.

Crosby's music was of a different era and I don't know how many people today are actually fans of his music or even listen to it. But, if you are a fan or listener, you can pick up a huge number--94 to be exact--of his songs for cheap, very cheap. I did the math and you would pay only 1.4 cents per song.

YourClassical's freebie of the day is Alexander Glazunov - The Seasons: Autumn: Bacchanale And Appearance of the Seasons. It's a 3 minute, 46 second MP3 piece. It comes from the album Glazunov - The Seasons (Die Jahreszeiten, Les Saisons).

Being the uncultured bumpkin that I am, I don't recognize the name Alexander Glazunov. However, I listened to the piece and can say that it is lively and entertaining.

The album is performed by the CSR (Slovak Radio) Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava. Ondrej Lenard is the conductor. Get more information about the entire album here. You can find a direct MP3 download link to the free piece here.

Saw an article that said that Amazon was going to "punish" non-Prime customers. Maybe their strategy now is not to discount memberships to increase members, but punish the customers who don't have them in order to increase business.

You are so right about the punishing. First it offered me $5 off with a gift card reload, then it offered me free prime for 30 days, then a big gift card if I signed up for a Visa.

I have noticed that they are taking 7 or 8 business days on average now to ship the $49+ orders with free shipping. It used to take only 2 to 3 days on average.

And usually their customer service is very good, but I've had an ongoing issue I've contacted them about three times now. The first two times were polite and friendly as usual just asking me to be patient. Then this morning I was told they couldn't fix the error they'd made as it was already processed and the other agents had misinformed me they could. I cannot remember having a bad customer service experience with them before. Or such a rude represative in chat. She didn't even respond to half of my questions then ended the chat session.

I don't think it was related to the fact I'm not a prime customer though. I don't stream TV and it's not worth the money to have two day shipping to me.

Shipping for non-Prime orders is definitely slower, there was a study released in February that reported that.

I think that support experience was simply a bad support rep. Ignoring half of what you said, then saying things like that isn't normal even for places with bad support in general. (I mean, that type of thing would surprise me even from Comcast. They're usually polite, even if Comcast won't let them do anything to actually help you half the time.)
