This is assuming you buy books and don't just do freebies. I personally use both a Kindle and a Kobo. I only do free at Kobo but I buy from Amazon. I like the store better. |

I mostly loan from the library lately but I have bought a couple this month for my upcoming trip. I've heard the store is better as well. Though it looks quite confusing from a glance at their website of ebooks. |

I don't think Amazon is confusing, it is just there are so many choices. So what do you like to read? |

![]() I've also heard the Voyage has quite a bit better contrast than the Paperwhite, even though their screens are both 300 dpi. No idea how true the rumor is. |

I prefer the Voyage but the real truth is if I could only have one ereader any of these would satisfy me. They're all excellent devices. The thing is, when I'm reading the device disappears as Jeff Bezos likes to say. It's true of all these devices, not just the Kindles. I was reading my current book on my PW3 till this morning. Today I've been reading it on my Aura because I was outside quite a bit and it fits nicely in my pants pocket. Now that I'm back inside I still have the Aura next to me. I may switch back to the Kindle, or not. It really doesn't matter much. As to the transition, I had Kindles before I had a Kobo so I'm probably not an expert on that but I go back and forth between them all the time. They're pretty different when doing anything but actually reading but reading on them is about the same. My suggestion is to do whatever you feel like. You have nothing but good choices here. There are no wrong choices. Whatever you do will work real well. Barry |

By the way, it's probably worth mentioning that while browsing Ebay last night I found another Kobo Aura that the seller says is in like new condition for just $50. He has lots of good feedback so I bought it. I have no need for it but I like mine a lot and now I have one to fall back on just in case. If I lost it and didn't have a replacement I'd miss it.

Exactly! I was just trying to google a fix for my Kobo Glo. I was perfectly content to let that ereader to be my only ereader but now I keep thinking I really should upgrade! What's a pearl eink screen to carta???

I seriously contemplated the original Kobo Aura instead of the PW but there were a few 'flaws' with the screen that were far bigger an issue for me than anything on the PW. I think the Glo HD and PW3 are probably fairly comparable, and if you were to stay with Kobo, you'd be far better hunting out a Glo HD than going for the Aura.
I personally like the Voyage for the way it makes the text appear almost printed on top of the screen, there's nothing in the specs for this (I think it's the glass screen compared to others using a plastic screen). I do see the slight light gradient with the light low at night, but that is the only negative I can find with it. Whether that's worth paying the extra money over a PW3 or Glo HD is completely subjective. Stats don't tell you everything though, if you can have a look at any of them instore, it's worth doing so. Take your Glo with you and compare them. I wouldn't completely discount the Kobo Aura 2 either, sure its stats don't compare well with the Glo HD, but there's no feedback on how it looks yet, and just because it doesn't have the same PPI, it doesn't mean it will look awful. The difference between a Pearl screen and Carta is that the latter has better contrast between the blacker text and lighter background than a Pearl screen, and it gives smoother page turns (quicker and smoother to refresh). How noticeable it is probably depends on how good your eyesight is though. One thing to consider, you mention borrowing library books, isn't it only in the US that you can borrow library books for your Kindle, AFAIK Canada is like the UK in this respect, you need an epub ereader for library books?
