Odd, mine has 0 syncing problems. The auto-brightness setting is completely off though, 70% in pitch darkness? I do love this ereader though. Thank you, Gods of tech!!!

Mine is the same as your new one, too. Although there's a greenish tone at the bottom left that I don't know if I should be concerned about. I know that a perfect screen is impossible to find.

After a few hours of reading on it, my initial impressions are:
1. The screen size is perfect!
2. Library and Pocket integration is awesome.
3. Lighting is uneven.
4. Kindle Voyage screen looks lighter and sharper.
5. Also slower to response to touch.

I think I'm keeping this.

I think about an hour or two. I used a cell phone charger plugged into power.

v, I don't see an indicator. The page showing is the one with all the language selections.

If it's been charging a white you should be able to move through those pages and download and update the firmware and get started.

Those colours look niiice. Actually gave the full red a try in bed and wasnt as bad as I thought - the quality of light coming out of the device makes more of a difference than I thought it would. What a nice experience, from start to finish - a true luxury in the cut-throat, dangerous world of e-reading! Just when you thought you were safe from paper-cuts...

Owner of this Aura One, I really like this Ereader.
The screen size brings a lot of comfort, and it's not easy to go back to a 6 inches.

Therefore, I won't lie about the contrast and sharpness : it's not as good as my Kindle voyage. Really not.
Build quality, as usual'with kobo, is not top notch either (but far better than the Kobo GloHD IMHO).

But hey, if you're looking for a 8inches Ereader, there is nothing better than the Aura One.

LOL yes. Camping gear, backpacks, e-readers - a natural progression! How do we get on Kobo's marketing team? I noticed in one of the reviews someone mentioned them being sold in the US at Best Buy at some point, but it doesn't seem very likely. Still, I'm hoping. I dislike buying sight unseen.

I also seem to have the bug that keeps auto sync on. I uncheck it and it comes right back. It was trying to sync last night, no matter that I pressed "cancel", and I had to power down and restart the device to stop it. Also tried factory reset to no avail. Adding "PeriodicAutoSync=false" stopped it. Thank you.
