It's very easy to get rid of the FNAC logo: just open the affiliate.conf file in the .kobo folder of the device and replace fnac with kobo. Nothing else is FNAC related.

I find it easier to go through kobo to set up a new device, with the kobo id/pw I use when I buy epubs on the kobo site (through internet, I don't want to download kepubs through Kobo desktop, because I prefer to clean epubs with Sigil and the Calibre app before uploading them as kepubs to the device.). Afterwards, I always sideload F/W updates and books. I only turn on the wifi to actualize Pocket, and immediately after turn it off.

I read it as the 1st # was the size on his Glo HD and the 2nd was the size on the A1. So most are smaller.

I just called Kobo in Canada. I pre-ordered the Aura One two hours after the link went active on August 30th. I wanted to get an idea of when it might ship because my address is going to change as of Sept. 14 and I might have to change the delivery address. I was told that in the US, the release date is Sept. 6 and it could arrive only 2-3 days after that. If my shipping email (when I get it) indicates that it will be longer, I may have to make another call to change the shipping. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be here before I leave.

dictionaries: (initial weight is my kobo Glo HD, kept at 3.15.0 for dictionaries
French: 6.7 Mo => 3.5 Mo!
Kobo changed who supplied the French dictionary. I have no idea of their quality, but when the firmware updates, you will be able to search the French dictionary like most of the others.

Menus
As said in one of the reviews, the menus are a mix of French and untranslated English. I'm adjusting parameters and "économie d'énergie et confidentialité" for instance doesn't make sense: there is nothing about confidentiality.

Also the screen turns violently pink without rhyme or reason - I'll turn anything automatic off.

I just noticed I have a June F/W, although the kobo apparently upgraded when I initialized it.

Just hope the light and menus will improve with a quick upgrade. While waiting for this I'll download just a few books and won't modify dictionaries or apply patches.
I have made some comments about the firmware release for the Aura One in other threads. There should be the official release version coming along in a few days.

Well, since the English version is "Energy saving and privacy", it's actually well translated.
Wild guess: maybe new options are forthcoming, to lock the device after a given time maybe? OR: the screensaver is considered a potential breach of privacy since it displays what you are reading.

Stupid question but the answer is escaping me at the moment...Where is HK?

Another question, how are people in the US getting shipment notices already when Kobo (Rakuten) says the Aura One won't even be available until Sept. 6? I ordered at 2 AM EST on August 30. No shipping notice yet.
