The vet told us years ago to put her down because she was aggressive. She'd bite and clawed and hubby was her pin cushion/chew toy. She was a big bully but I refused. I just kept loving her then we rescued Sweetpea and she suddenly had to compete with her new sister. Maisy behaviour changed. She became the sweetest cat. Her and hubby made peace. They love each other. She's daddy's girl. She sits on his chair with him or in his lap.

She's had a wonderful happy 13 years the last year she's been ill so I won't say 14. I'm gonna miss her. She's been my constant companion for 14 years. We've been through so much together.

Big Hugs Blossom. I am sorry. I know how hard it is to loose a friend. No words to make it better.

WE have one of those aggressive kitties and I just brought her sister in for treatment. PHEW it has not changed Abby. I bottle fed her from a wee thing with her umbilical cord still hanging on. Mama had moved the rest of the litter and left her behind for many hours. I left her too until it was apparent mama was not coming back for her. Now she is 4 or 5 and never did get any nicer but hubby adores her and she him. I am the pin cushion. We still love her.

Thanks she is being given a few more days at least. My mom collapsed and was admitted to the hospital with sepsis and a possible fractured knee. My sister who is her caretaker was my ride.

Maisy is doing better today. We seen some improvement. I'm hoping the symptoms subside so she can spend her last days not cooped up.

She's so smart. She woke me up this morning with a special meow that let me know she needed her litter box. She has a different meow for different times.

I just checked on her and her sister was laying by her. I can just imagine the conversation they are having.

I'm currently watching Maisy lay in her favorite place on the windowsill. Today I've seen significant improvement. She has not used the litter box since midnight and she is drinking her normal amount again. I'm letting her free while I can watch her.

Maisy litter box habits have always been twice a day. Once in the morning and once late at night so I take this as a very good sign. I've put her in the litter room several times but she is not interested.

This doesn't change the final outcome but we are both able to rest. She is no longer restless and slept a very long time which means I finally got some much needed rest too.

Blossom this is good news. The restless issues are the worst when neither one of you can rest. I have a kitty that certain dry foods irritate her bladder. As long as I stay away from them for her she does pretty well A little lemon juice in her water bowl also helps. I know this is different than your Maisy. But that restless I gotta go is the same.

She is sleeping on Hubby's bed. I know dry food is bad for her but she won't eat canned which is why she's probably has diabetes. She loves kibble. I've tried and tried over the years. She will lick the gravy but leave the meat. Pâté version she licks the sauce but that's it. She doesn't understand you're supposed to chew the meat.

It's probably like kids and mushrooms: "I can't stand the texture of it, Mom!!"

[ Hmmm - what would happen if you let some wet food dry out overnight, so that the text was better? After she licked it off, I mean. ]

Speaking of animals and food; Norton doesn't know what's good. He prefers Kraft Singles (American) to real cheddar. What a pleb!

But American slices are probably softer and chewier!

Opal likes pineapple, peaches, blueberries, popcorn .... *any* thing that I'm eating (and will feed her; not chocolate) *must* be good.

Could be. Then again, maybe it's the brand name. He likes Kraft Crackerbarrel Cheddar blocks, but not Sargento cheddar slices. Kraft American Slices he loves, but not the store brand from Food Lion.

Maybe he owns stock in Kraft. Even though he's here at the house all day every day, there's still a lot I don't know about Norton.

Deb, we once had a cat that ate half a chocolate bar. We had left it on a table. It was a world's finest chocolate. She had licked both ends. Made it look like it had never been touched. Apparently she was eating it while we were gone. She never got sick.

I never met him, but my SO reported that the Weimaraner pup she had as a kid would eat anything that was people food. He'd even drink grapefruit juice, making faces all the while but finishing it, because his people had given it to him. He also needed his coffee in the morning, or was bleary eyed all day. The vet who looked after him said his Weimaraner was the same way.

My late cat Kvetch liked raw garlic. Kvetch was ill when I found her wandering the halls in my building in the winter, and one symptom was a persistent nasty sinus condition that medication cut down on but did not cure. My SO and I estimated she liked raw garlic because it was something she could actually smell. (And at least once when the cat was sleeping next to her on the bed, the SO complained "She's sweating garlic through the pads of her paws!" We both love garlic in cooking, but having the cat smell like garlic on the pillow beside her was another matter. )

My mom's dog was a chocolate addict. She would get into bags of candy stashed and eat it all. Never once made her sick. I'm told that dog lived a very long life. A friend of my mom's took her and wouldn't give her back.

She was a Yorkie Pomeranian. I know it's suppose to poison to them but maybe some dogs are immuned.

No once the gravy or sauce is gone she won't touch it. She has a hard time eating any meat like a little chicken breast. She will lick it. The only thing I've ever seen her chew other than kibble was a shrimp that fell from our Mei Fun she ate everything but the tail.

I was trying to give her some high calorie paste before I knew she was a diabetic and she tried chewing it which resulted in a mess.

Today she is in her crate. She must have overdone it as it back to restlessness and trips to the litter box. She seems to have lost even more weight these past few days. I read without insulin she will just keep going that way. I read all the vomiting was caused from her sugar being out of whack. I could try to switch her to canned again but if that makes her worse as the vet told me not to as she isn't vomiting but it's 33% carbs so it's bad for her sugar. The only can I have is the gravy kind because that's what she likes. It's better but not on the approved list for diabetics.

I know what must be done. Dang! This is got to be the hardest thing we've done as hubby was so hopeful last night.

They are supposed to be allergic to onions too. My chihuahua loves stuff with onions though we try not to let him have very many. Can we say onion farts?

On that note:if someone has a colicky baby and isn't allergic to onions, make the baby some onion tea. Boil an onion, add a pinch of sugar, cool, put in baby bottle. Watch baby make it disappear. Wait 5 minutes and you will have a now happy but very smelly baby. And in a few hours when he poops, either take the baby outside, open a window or wear a gas mask to change the dirty diaper.
Note: to stupid mothers do not leave a colicky baby with someone that knows this remedy while you are out partying. If you forget to pay the sitter, she may forget to warn you about the smell that will be coming your way soon.

Oh and in answer to the question of what did you do to my baby, we cured his colic.
