Well, if we're branching out to recommend movies, how about The Hot Rock, The Trouble with Angels, and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.
Shirley Jackson's Life among the Savages and Raising Demons are wonderfully funny books. |

Why not join The Aubrey/Maturin Book Club? We're only midway through the month as we read the first book in the series, so you've plenty of time to join in. Books are even better if you can talk about them.
The books are both tremendous fun and superbly written. And if you get hooked, you'll have 19+ books to look forward to. Last edited by issybird; 07-16-2016 at 09:21 AM. |

I can tell you some fun authors if you read Romance. Jennifer Cruise, Christie Craig, Susan Anderson and Jane Graves books are all light-hearted funny Romances. The wonderful thing about Romance is you get a happy ending. Anytime I read Christie Craig I get banished to the bedroom because I laugh and giggle too much.
Historical Romance would be Julia Quinn, Sabrina Jefferies and Karen Hawkins. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk |

I'm not a big movie watcher: it takes time away from my books. :P
Though I have watched nearly all of the ones recommended. |

"The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window And Disappeared" (
http://www.jonasjonasson.com/the-boo...eared-31839684 ) is hilarious. Slapstick, with lots of implausible (to put it mildly) coincidences, both as we follow Allan Karlsson on the run from both police and criminals as a 100-year-old, and in the flashbacks of his life. ("You're that Allan Karlsson?" Mao Zedong said, astonished.") It's also a film, which was quite good, but the book is better. And for really fluffy fun, Georgette Heyer's "The Talisman Ring", with dastardly plots, astonishing adventures, and True Love. |
