At first I thought you meant an economizer which would be very unusual for a home AC but they do save huge amounts of energy when they are working properly. Of course, for most buildings they aren't working properly and cause as many problems as they solve unless you keep checking up on them. They don't necessarily fail in an obvious way so you may never know if (when) it happens. |

it's how it's suppose to work but never does. It cycles on to check the air at no interval sometimes 10 minutes other times it can go as far as 30 minutes to an hour. I'm having to fiddle with it to keep comfortable. On days it works right it's nice.
I had a wall unit in Raleigh that did the samething. If it's below 65 outside it won't cycle at all no matter how hot the room is. Here's how it really works. 68 it won't cycle till 76 in the room and 67 it won't cycle till 74 in the room. The sensor is in a encasement. There is no way to clean anything. Bad install? Probably. Raleigh wall unit was like this too though only 68 cycle on at 74 and 70 at 78. It's a bad designed feature. I miss the central air I had in Tennessee. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk |

We have central air here in the beautiful Sandwich Islands, we call it the trade winds. Sometimes there's an area of high pressure north and east of us that disrupts the trade winds and it can get a little warm. I've actually seen it get up to eighty nine or ninety degrees a couple of times.

They can have mine! It's raining right now though. It's 76 now and 70 in room 1 and 73 in room two. So pretty nice.

I just wanted to let everyone who wished my nephew well know that his tests have been clear so far.
Speaking of medical matters, apparently it costs upwards of $3000 to get a mole removed. I do have insurance but I owe my $400 deductible. *Sigh* I didn't have a deductible until last year. They downgraded our plans. |

Reminder number 273 (in the last WEEK!!) of why I'm glad I moved to Canada and became a citizen here.
But all that aside, covingtoncat73, I _do_ feel your pain. Having lived for several years before we moved with having to pay for my own insurance, I was acutely aware of what things cost. Horrifying. |

I had to pay $800 co-insurance on top of copay and deductible for a scope test when I had insurance. I asked the doctor several times if it was fully covered and they lied. Health Insurance here is a nightmare.

Now, the first question you get asked is about insurance coverage. A former employer changed health insurers in the interests of saving costs. The change was not for the better in terms of coverage. I really wanted to decline coverage. I'd have done better to take the money deducted from my paycheck and stick it into an interest bearing account, and use that to cover medical expenses, but that wasn't an option. (An old friend who makes his living on investments is doing precisely that.) But the insurance companies aren't really the villains of the piece. They price to cover their costs, and the problem is that the underlying costs of providing health care have soared. I haven't seen anyone propose plausible solutions for reducing what it costs to provide health care in the first place. ______ Dennis |
