I'm staying pretty much on track, though I'd like to be a bit ahead going into this summer. I know I'm going to be putting in long hours for both jobs, so it's going to be tough to find reading time.

I've just finished my 90th of the year. Arithmetically, that puts me on course for 230+ for this year. But last year at this time I'd just finished my 99th book, and I only got to 226 in total. I seem to have had a slow last four months of 2015.

Yech. I just finished one two star book and abandoned another. Should have abandoned both. But it does put me on course for hitting my goal, since I count that abandoned one as much as a finished one for purposes of the target. (I figure it virtually always takes me longer to read a book that I eventually abandoned than a book I enjoy, because of the avoidance effect, so take the credit for it.) But really, two at the same time? Very off-putting! (one audio, one ebook)

I've cut way down on buying books, though I bought the next-in-line Perry Mason book last night and I'll be buying the winning science book for the MR Book Club this month. Other than that, I really need to whittle my TBR down also.

I happened to buy 9 books of a series by Erle Stanley Gardner in this month, which worries me to keep my 'Minimum Purchase Agenda' for the year working. I hope not to buy many more in forthcoming months. I have already stopped falling for useless freebies and piling up my TBR. The TBR has been reduced to 1443 Ebooks, 28 Pbooks and 49 in Wishlist. These are satisfying figures, anyway.

Another month, another review. I'm not doing too badly. I have read or abandoned or discarded nearly all the books I bought before July 2008. My TBR is now 766, so I might even manage to end 2016 with it below 700. Spending is more problematic. I'm about £55 over budget and I only have £65 left in my book budget for the entire rest of the year. I don't think I'm going to manage to stay within it. I've read 96 or 97 books so far this year - I seem to have go my post in a bit of a middle, so I'll need to sort that out. |

Logged my 63rd book on May 31st, and I didn't track January and February, so that makes it 21books a month. I have managed to read some other stuff, in addition to my normal fare of SciFi and Dystopian. Also read quite a bit from my TBR, so I'm happy with that. But - still use my Kindle Unlimited. AND got the code for my local library's ebooks.... Fortunately my library only lets me borrow one book a week! It will help me utilize the KUnlimited, AND read from the TBR. But 1/week would be horrible if I had to rely solely on the library |

... at 62, I am right on track for my goal. Been a slow couple weeks, lately, but that 's mostly due to RL stuff rather than bad or slow books.

I am still running about 2 months ahead of schedule for my page goal. If this keeps up I will increase my goal for next year. I have managed to check off 27 books from the Something For Everyone challenge as well, but am getting to some of the harder categories for me. Self-improvement book? More than 100 years older than me? Political memoir? I suppose that is part of the point though, to read things I wouldn't otherwise read. |
