I'm trundling along quite nicely though I have discovered that if a book is boring me I have a tendency to revert back to reading just fanfiction rather than pushing through the boring part or even just switching to another book. It's definitely something I have to keep an eye on.

My total reads this year are doing OK, and I'm managing to keep my tally of bought and read mostly current, so that's all good. But I've "bought" 44 books this year, plus several Audible books, and only read 26. That is NOT a good ratio. True, several of those bought books are public domain, so free, or Kindle Unlimited and thus "free". But it's still moving in the wrong direction.

I am actually well ahead of my goals right now but that is normal for the beginning of the year. I am beginning to wonder if I read faster on my new Kindle for some reason. Page turns are noticeably faster but that doesn't account for all the difference. Anyone else have that experience going from an older device to a new one? K3 to Voyage in my case.

Nice to see this thread stickied too.

I don't know about old device to new one but I have noticed that I much prefer reading on my dark framed Nook and Kindle as opposed to my white framed Kobo.

Is there a difference in the screen contrast between the two? That might account for it. Or you could just have had a run of fast reads.

All of the above, maybe.

The frame is slightly darker on the Voyage but not too much (black vs dark gray), contrast is certainly better with the Voyage (backlit vs no light and older tech to start with), and it is possible I have been reading easier books but they haven't seemed unusually easy and are from a lot of the same authors I read last year so they shouldn't be too far off.

I have only had the Voyage a little over a month so I don't have much data to go on, it is just that my February page count was about 4,500 pages which is almost double my average. It is enough of an outlier that I am curious and thought I would check around.

Better than the other way round, surely? If that were the case, you'd eventually run out of things to read .

I've read 19 of my 75 books, 6 ahead of schedule apparently. There are a few shorts in there, so I'm way behind on my average page count target of 300.

Goal for 2016 for 10 months, starting in March, is a low 100 books plus short stories.

One goal is to read the Discworld and Ringworld series, and the second goal is to try some new genres. I'm mostly reading SciFi and cozy mysteries...

And hopefully I will read at least some from the TBR collection (705 books at the moment...). Ideally I should also aim to reduce e-book purchases, especially considering the amount of unread bought books I have....

No, not really. First, because if I never re-read a book, didn't buy a single new one, and continued reading at my current pace, I'd still have more than enough books to last me until 2022 or so. But I _do_ re-read favourite series and books, and I will inevitably buy more books. I seriously need to get my TBR back under control.

I feel I am doing well so far. 31 books finished.. (actually 29, I abandoned 2 ). I hope to achieve my target of 120 books fairly well within time. However, TBR list is disappointing me. 1458 ebooks and 29 pbooks!
Another 43 in wish list to buy! I'm not going to buy any!! (Well, until I get some good discount offer on them.. )

I might just get below a TBR of 700 by the end of the year, but only if I buy nothing but my subscriptions for the rest of the year. Somehow I don't see that happening. Although if it did, I'd certainly make my spending goal too!

Our TBR lists are similar in size, but at your reading speed you could be through yours in two years or so. If I don't buy or download another book, it would take me around seven years to get through mine.

My TBR contains 4865 titles which will take me 173 years to finish

Of course, most of those are free items I grabbed over the years

My TBR would still take me four years (until 2020) if I stopped buying any ebooks today.
