fixing directory/metadata variances
Not sure if this is the right place to post this. But the issue I am having is that I might have several folders on disk for the same author, even though the metadata for the books only has one author (which is exactly the same across all affected titles)
I have ended up with two directories: "A. A. Milne" and "A.A. Milne" which both contain some of the books by the author "A.A. Milne" is there any way I can make calibre cleanup after itself and get all of the associated data in one place and reduce the duplicated/spread out of material? |

Install the Quality Check plugin.
It has many routines for getting a uniform approach to metadata, including one which fixes author names to use your preferred initials (with/without spaces). |

that's not the issue, in the editor/GUI the author metadata is correct, but the file structure isnt. Which is what I want to fix. (I already use several metadata cleanup plugins including the one you suggested)

Wait, the author metadata is different from the folder name? That isn't supposed to happen...
Now, on Windows which is case-insensitive, correcting the capitalization won't modify the file structure. But a missing space should absolutely have been updated. Perhaps somehow the rename failed and calibre left the filename alone. In any event, if you rename the title or author and then go back to the proper name, it will force calibre to re-move the book, which *should* fix this glitch. |

Or you did not heed the warnings on cloud drive usage and your Library sustained (out of sync) damage. NB Performing Library Maintenance should report this condition

I already tried the Library Maintenance and had no luck. I used some RegEx magic to tweak author names, and then revert it. looks to have cleared the issue up. |
