voyage randomly turns off while reading

hey. i have had my voyage for about 3 months now. I love it! one problem though, it will randomly turn off while i am reading. this usually happens after i have been reading a while, it then usually takes about a minute until it lets me turn it on again. anyone have any idea what could be going on?

its not a huge deal, which is why it took me so long to post this, i would definitely rather it not happen though

Thanks

Is it timing out, because you are stuck on one page for longer than its little brain thinks you should be? In this case, it would be going to the screen saver (or ads) page.

Or is it turning all the way off, requiring a reboot - i.e. do you see the girl (boy?) under the tree while it is coming back?

If it's the latter (and it isn't low on battery or something) then I think you should talk to Amazon customer service. It shouldn't be doing that!

None of the above on my Voyage. I appear to have the same intermittent problem as Disneygirl85. It's not frequent enough to bother me, but it does happen. Today it happened when I went back one page to see if I'd missed something in my reading. Squeezed the back page haptic area and the device clicked off. My hand was nowhere near the off button in the rear, because that's the first possibility I considered, so I checked. I clicked the on button and the device came right back on, so it didn't really bother me, but it's far from the first time it's happened.

Funny. My Voyage randomly turns on when I'm not reading. And I'm serious. The Kindle lays on the table in front of me and suddenly it turns on. After 2-3 minutes, it turns off.

Sounds to me like the Voyage is over heating. When it gets to a certain point it turns off to cool down. Are you reading IN a case or Out of the case? IF it in a case try reading with out. My Amazon Phone out of case is 30 degrees the one In case is 102!! & I noticed when I have it in my pocket & go to read on it in my car it cuts off saying it too hot.

Are you using a case? Perhaps the sleep magnet on the case is triggering when it shouldn't? I've had that happen with other devices.

Katie1,
Can you double check that 30°? If it was that cold, you couldn't hold it. Now depending on the ambient temperature, I could believe 50, 60 or 70. Whatever the room temperature is.

Oh and just for scientific trivia, black colors in the sun typically run at least 20 degrees hotter than white.

Didn't finish my sentence. The one out of the case 30 Degrees less than the one in the case which is 102 degrees.

1 tiny word can change the whole meaning for sure.

I kind of figured that was what you meant.
Or you could have done the first one Celsius and the second one Fahrenheit.
Note 30C is 86F.

This all sounds odd to me. I have never had my Voyage turn off by itself while I'm actively reading, nor has it ever turned on by itself (that I've noticed).

I've seen the behavior Harry T describes with my Voyage in an aftermarket sleep cover--but only when setting my Voyage down on a metal table with the cover folded back. The combination of the magnet in the cover and the metal table will cause the Voyage to turn off. I end up either unfolding the cover and laying it flat or putting a napkin between the folded back cover and the back of the voyage. But if this happens, I can immediately turn the Voyage back on--I don't have to wait a minute or two as DisneyGirl needs to. If this behavior continues, I think you should probably contact Amazon customer support, because it sounds like a faulty device to me.

I do that frequently myself. I know what I want to write, but often find my fingers have omitted a phrase that was clearly queued up for typing by my brain. I think my brain queue has a hole in it.
