I use the Downpour app a lot. I've run into the stopping problem also, but I've found that if I hit the button to go back a chapter and then the forward chapter button (it might take two jumps), it will resume. It's faster than restarting the phone, which was my initial fix.

The Audible app on my iPod Touch crashes every time I launch it, then works the second launch, so I don't favor one experience over the other!

Thanks for the tip. I hate it when I have to use a specific app instead of my Clip Sport.

I like apps for non-fiction, because I like to goose up the speed a bit.

It's too bad that there is not a Swiss Army knife program/app that you can use to play anything from anyone.

The Downpour app would be fine if it didn't keep stopping. At least it shows chapters and their times. The Hoopla app doesn't crash, but it's one long file--you never know where you are.

The book itself is almost certainly in the public domain, but that doesn't mean that you can get a free audiobook of it with good narration just anytime that you want to. The narrator for this audio is professional, and a very good one IMHO.

A note for my fellow MobileReaders who are Europeans . . . . you may not recognize "War of 1812." It was fought between the United States and Great Britain. If I'm not mistaken, Europe does not consider this as a separate war from the one going on on the Continent at the time involving Napoleon. It was just an American theater in that war.

I got an email about the sale, but I couldn't find a straightforward way to find the $6.99 downloads from among all of the other titles. So, I gave up looking. The Mantle of Command, by Nigel Hamilton is a $2.99 Kindle mobi right now. The Whispersync narration is $4.99. So the WS deal is only $7.98. It might be worth 99 cents to someone to go with Amazon/Audible and get the ebook (sync'd with the audio) in addition to the audio, over paying $6.99 at Tantor to get the audio alone.

YW - Tantor certainly doesn't make it easy. At least they have filters to narrow things down.
