			Hello,

I have a Kindle Paperwhite 1st gen and am currently jailbroken on 5.4.4 and whish to upgrade to the latest version. However, as I read quite a lot of PDFs on my Kindle a jailbreak (with KOreader) is essential. Is it possible for me to upgrade without losing my jailbreak? As I can see it, it is not possible yet to jailbreak more up-to-date firmwares without opening the kindle up - is that correct? thank you! |

Make sure you update the jailbreak beforehand, and you should be good to go.

after confirming/upgrading my jb I can then just proceed to flash the newest firmware from amazons website and my jb will be preserved ? thanks! |

Don't determine anything, just install the latest jailbreak (JailBreak v1.14.N) from the jailbreak thread. Then you can safely update firmware to 5.6.1.1, then do another restart/reboot. Just don't factory reset your Kindle before/after applying new firmware update and all will be well.
