When I returned to my Van I lightly Tossed the Fire on to the Passengers seat from just out side of the Drivers seat. The Fire Hit the Seat ...lucky me! The Case Flew to the Floor! I sent the piece of junk case Back the next day!

Maybe ...do I Trust it Nope Nada No Way! Whose going to replace the Ereader when it Snaps in 2 from a Fall... Case sure wont give any protection... Doesn't even cover the Whole device!

Doubtless kills the ergonomics and the 'disappears into your hand' weight.

Why are you convinced it's a badly designed device - without having used it? Because of the need for, and (supposed) extra cost of the cover?

I think the engineers at Amazon should have a chance to make their case (pun intended ) by putting it into the publics hand and deciding from there.

I personally think it's going to be one of those things that polarizing to see, but sells itself once it's your hand. I think it'll end up being well-liked.

No.

The Surface 4 keyboard covers, and the Apple Smartcovers only protect the screen when closed.

There might be a USB port inside the spine of the cover. That's the fourth side of the battery, I think. It's the only side I've not seen a shot of, in any video. But I am beginning to wonder if maybe there really isn't a USB port on the cover.

Still -- the 5 dot magnet connection is a port, and must be where the Oasis itself charges the cover. Amazon, or a third party, could come out with a separate charger with a 5 dot magnet connector to attach to the cover there. I'd rather have a USB port tho, since we already own chargers for that!

I don't think there's a usb port on the cover - extra weight 'n all

It would totally make sense to have one, but I'm not convinced that Amazon's decisions have been entirely rational where the Oasis is concerned

It's not the engineering. As to the design, I don't like it; but I won't criticize others for liking it. To each his own. My problem with it is Amazon's misleading and deceitful advertising:

Quote:
Reimagined to be our thinnest and lightest Kindle ever

Dual-battery charging system delivers months of battery life—our longest ever
Which is it? It can't be both! Those statements contradict each other. If you leave the cover off, then it's their thinnest and lightest Kindle; but it no longer has the longest battery life. Leave the cover on and it has the longest battery life; but it's no longer their thinnest and lightest Kindle.

Bad Amazon, bad! Go to your corner!
.

Meh, with the 5000mAh battery pack taped to the back of the PW, I should get about 26 weeks worth of use based on 30 minutes reading per day.
That's Half.A.Year

I WIN

Yep; while our solutions aren't as elegant as Amazon's, they're a heck of a lot cheaper and blow the Oasis' battery life out of the water. The Oasis plus charging cover doesn't come close to matching the battery life of my Kindle 7 plus docking station.

Why not? It's light if you configure it one way, and long-lived if you configure it the other way,

Lightest ever:

Months of battery life:

Well that was just the first prototype, have you even seen a first prototype look anything like the final product It needs some glittery tape or something, and a tuna motif...

No, seriously though. He never had to in the past, the products themselves were generating enough hype (and orders). I think this time around, he knew / felt he would have to do sthing. And I am guessing, this came out after the latest clinic tests. they most probably did come back not as positive as they should be.

Is it twit or tweet ? Sorry, I am tired and can't find my dictionary (kids must have misplaced it. Need to beat them up with a stick again ).

That's a good point and I suspect you're right.

I believe it's tweet. I don't do Twitter, so I'm not sure.
