How do you get $100? You mean over the Voyage? Arguably is the Voyage worth the extra money over the PW2? The later PW3? If PW3 and Voyage arrived same day (which they didn't) it might have been differently priced.

But Voyage to Oasis you do not have a $100 premium. The case is included. Someday they might be an option to purchase the Oasis without case. For now you would have to compare Voyage+case vs. Oasis. Then the difference in price becomes much smaller.

You can like it, want it, and buy it. But be honest about what it is. There are different features than the voyage but those are features which have existed within the same brand of ereader. And the additional LEDs are a questionable improvement as folks here have pointed out

We're now over 24h after pre-orders opened - both the black and merlot wifi-only still show an April 27th delivery date, and the walnut is May 6th. Haven't tried with the 3g version as that's likely less popular.

Okay, I see the Oasis images you're referring to on the top left of the product page. In particular, the shadows on photo #6 (the one with page-turn buttons on the left) certainly do minimize the wider side.

Anyone in the UK who wants one really should get it from one of the € priced Amazon stores, even with the added delivery costs it'd still be cheaper. It also helps if they have one of the cards that don't charge for non-Sterling transactions

Isn't it quite obvious? Kobo does lighting better. What if all of a sudden Amazon does lighting just as good? You would cry that they stole Kobo's technology, illegally reverse engineered. Oasis lighting is not Voyage lighting with more leds, it is different. A clip on booklight only needs 1 led, why can't Kobo light the screen with 1 led?

That's a great observation. In fact, maybe the starting design requirement was to eliminate all those returns due to spotty lighting ==> shorter throw ==> across width, not length ==> requires larger side bezel for lights ==> might as well put controls and other things there in that space ==> call it a feature!

Not when it's asymmetrical and your brain is having a hard time coping with that. I've had to look at soothing pictures of symmetrical patterns after watching some of the Oasis videos
