Been there, done that. But when you are daily near or on water, and by that I mean from April to November, the Ziploc trick gets old.

But I do understand that my case is particular and that amazon cannot cater to my special needs.

If I had a beach nearby, a waterproof design would probably be high on my list as well. Advantage of waterproofing usually also comes with dustproofing. So good for both dirty and wet environments. As you don't intend to read under water, you will be fine. It protects against accidents, but leave it under water for longer than a half hour and you risk damage. I believe Kobo stresses that you can still fully use the H2O under water? But that isn't the intended use scenario you should be aiming for.

"I am easily amused" would probably be the most appropriate English idiom in this case. There is a closer English idiom for the OPPOSITE : "A tough room."

I've just noticed something... If you look at the Oasis page on Amazon, most of the product images are shot in a way that tones down the wider side. The image with the woman holding it is the only one where the asymmetry is really obvious, in all the others, it's minimised with clever use of the cover and lighting

Actually, many of the photos on the Oasis product page are of the basic Kindle and Paperwhite. They are labeled as such, but it's odd and may be confusing to potential buyers.

You literally just described repackaging. There's nothing really new about the Oasis. They re-added page turn buttons and added some LEDs. The casing is the packaging.

And yes if you add costs to the voyage it gets near the price of the oasis. But you have the option to get the voyage alone and get an after market case or no case. You are required to pay for the case for the oasis.

I have no doubts that people will buy an Oasis. But let's not pretend that it's anything but a reimagined voyage design.

I'm talking about the images on the left of the Oasis page and which show as thumbnails that you hover/click on to zoom - these are all of the Oasis
