I don't like the wedge, I already have a waterproof ereader in the H20, and I'd buy another one of anything happened to it. I don't need Solar charging. My money is safe, it's actually nice to see an ereader I don't want.

Butt ugly and definitely not ambidextrous! A slap in the face to left-handed people. Even IF it can be rotated 180° to use in left hand, the cases would be backwards. And that Quasimodo hump is going to be problematic for cases. If that thing is a Kindle, then the Kindle designers have lost all of their senses.

Of course the cover as in the shots would add rigidity. Remains to see what the battery life is without and with the cover. A clever way maybe to pretty much force people into buying the official cover?

I really don't like the shape overall. Unless there's something really special about it, I can't see myself getting one. And price unknown yet obviously.

It's telling that a few shots omit the wedge altogether...it's like they know people won't like it and needs to be hidden

I agree. The asymmetric shape looks perfect for one-handed reading--especially without a cover.

I'm right-handed, but I invariably hold my readers in my left hand.

That's what I think, except for the clever part. I already resist strongly OEM cases that cost a huge percentage of the price of the device and this has the potential to hit astronomical proportions.

Yes.
Kind of reminds one of the 1970's Detroit advertisements.
Exact same mentality transported to the twenty-first century.

It's not something I personally see myself needing, but neither do I see a reason for me to oppose/fight it. It's not like it's going to cost me anything to let it happen. Any price they put on it is still going to be ridiculously cheaper than what I willingly paid for my first eink reader.
A separate solar charger will always be better though, and can also be used for charging other gadgets.

Well sure. But again, what would having built-in solar charging hurt? Those who want to go the "better" route will still be able to, and those who don't have enough gadgets to make a separate solar charger feasible (whether economically, aethetically, or just-too-darn-many-extra-cables-ly, can make use of the built-in/cover-supplied feature.

Those who don't want it can not use it, or simply not buy the version of the cover that provides it. I just don't understand the pushback against it.

That wedge looks to make it easier to hold along with a wider side for gripping...Well hopefully they chose to do something on the software side!

A solar charger for an ereader only makes sense if you'll be away from a power source for extended periods of time; like backpacking or camping. A picnic or a trip to the beach is well within current battery technology to not require additional charging.

Quite frankly, I don't see the need for it. But then, I don't have any objections to it as long as it's an optional accessory. So for those who want it, go for it.
