Sir, it is the same thing, Kindle 5.6.5 (2730300038). I am typing looking at my kindle device info page. To quell further queries, i may submit that free space on kindle is purposely kept below 199MB for preventing any kind of unexpected update by kindle.
Thank you. Last edited by mitra; 03-09-2016 at 08:18 AM. |

It is known to work properly on your device and firmware version. It has to be a local problem since your device is not special in any way. So re-check what you have done, in particular, if you have left the device enough working space in your mis-guided attempt to block updates. Instead, follow these directions: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=184 Which has been tested and shown to work on 5.6.5 firmware: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=268 Perhaps remove all existing collections and start over, following directions carefully this time. Hey thanks for your inputs. I do appreciate it.
I followed your suggestion and i started looking for .json collection file in kindle.I could fine few files in the systems folder hidden in kindle drive of windows 7. There i found 7 json file only one ending with .json. I have attached an image of it. I do not know which one should i delete, if at all, to start creating fresh collections. Am I in the right folder to delete the json file?? I was wondering if deleting these .json files from system hidden folder would not harm my device in any way or prevent it from starting up. And i am following the backdoor thread and 5.6.5 jailbreak release thread, very closely, for blocking updates. Currently,I have 185 mb free space and i have only created update.bin.partial folder in the root directory. It seems to have taken care of stopping the update for me even when the space was 500mb. That is what the sole thing i have done and checked to keep away silent updates from kindle. Please take a look at the attachment and guide me which file i may have to delete to start collections working again. Thank you knc1. Last edited by mitra; 03-09-2016 at 09:43 AM. |

that is the old one that most likely does not work any longer. No harm done if you leave that one when you add the correct one. And make certain that your Windows is not adding (and then hiding) any extension. The easiest way is probably to disable the 'hide known extensions' option in your Windows file manager. (Which might 'fix' your collections data file problem also. ![]() Last edited by knc1; 03-09-2016 at 09:46 AM. |

So which collection file should i delete sir without causing any harm to my device?
Yes, you are right it is wrong name. I have created update.bin.tmp.partial folder in my root directory and it is working for me. Last edited by mitra; 03-09-2016 at 09:48 AM. |

They are only used by LibrarianSync when it builds the Kindle's (hidden) database. Let the Calibre plug-in generate a new, correct, one. **OR** Put your books in a directory tree under documents where each sub-directory name represents a collection name. Then let LS rebuild the Kindle's database from the directory tree structure. Note: This second way has the advantage that both the Kindle's native collections and what is shown in KOreader's file manager will be the same layout. |

The second option is better.
Just to be sure, collections.json, .backup, .compare, .full, .original and kindleManager.json----all these 7 files should i delete it? |

I deleted all the seven files .json, restarted the framework and ran it.
Still librarian sync gives the same error. |

yes i did it. I have earlier used it as well with the same directory structure.
Do you want me to change folders again? and then try it? Rebuild folder function itself is returning errors. I have created many folders containing books inside the documents folder for KO reader. But the librarian plugin is returning error even after changing the .json file inside the system folder. Last edited by mitra; 03-09-2016 at 01:04 PM. |

What version of LibrarianSync are you using?
Are any of your books *.kfx books? Try this one: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/att...8&d=1455067172 It isn't in the top post, it doesn't have an updated version number, but the build date matches when *.kfx support was added in the git hub repository. Found it - See post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=210 The above attachment link I had found by listing this threads attachments. But I have now run-tested it on my PW-3 and read the script - That is the one that needs to be re-named as 1.11 and added to the packages attached to the first post of this thread. It supports the 7th gen devices and the 10th gen Amazon e-book name. Now, where was I this morning ? ? ? ? Oh, right, some people still want to be able to disconnect their Kindles from the wall charger. With 17 pages of job openings at lab126 for software engineers, I guess we had better tackle that problem ourselves. Last edited by knc1; 03-09-2016 at 04:48 PM. |

hey knc1 hi. I am using the 1.10 latest version from the first post of this thread. I tried both the bin files and even tried as a last resort, copied github folder librarian sync in extensions though i didnt copy tools folder from github, didnt't know where to put it.
Sorry, but even the one you suggested the kfx .bin file that is not working for me. I have scratched everywhere hehe!!! trying to find whats wrong only with my device. What bothers me is i never play with any files and follow every instruction meticulously before running anything on the kindle. I like to take pride in being perfectionist and careful. I think i should wait for some magic to happen or till some expert can put some other alternative collection manager for me. I must say i have exhausted myself being frentic now i should just laugh at it and forget it as a beautiful dream that can work. Thanks knc1, I appreciate your tips and inputs. Let me know if there is anything i can do more to get the extension working again. ![]() Last edited by mitra; 03-10-2016 at 12:51 AM. |

I do not have a PW2 and am unable to duplicate your problem on the devices I do have.
How many books do you have on the device? How many collections? Do the books appear in more than one collection? Are you trying to use nested collections? Are you trying to include books and/or collections that are 'on the cloud'? The collections database lives in /var/local which is a small partition - it may be running out of room. If you have a way to enter the command line command: df -h /var/local it would tell us how much free space is available in that partition. Otherwise - we need a modified LibrarianSync with more precise error messages than just: "something evil happened". |

I have recently updated my PW2 to firmware 5.7.3 and it seems like LibrarianSync is no longer working. I create the collections in Calibre using the Kindle Collections plugin as usual but when choosing "Update Collections (calibre plugin)" I just get the message "Updating collections from Calibre" and nothing further happens. I've tried Rebuild Collections and even Delete Collections and still nothing happens. I was using version 1.7 and have updated to 1.10 with the same results.
I am running JB version 1.14N-FW-5.6.x-hotfix and have had no problems up to now using this tool. Is anyone else successfully using LibrarianSync on a PW2 with firmware 5.7.3? |
