Kindle Touch/PW1/PW2 5.0.x - 5.4.4.2 JailBreak. Plus FW 5.x USBNetwork. - Page 144

ok so i just made a mistake.

My PW2 was still von 5.4.X, jailbroken with 1.10N and i wanted to try the new update so after reading here that the jailbreak survives the update i updated using the 5.7.2 bin file but i forgot to update the jailbreak beforehand. While it was updating it did actually show the "Jailbreak" Banner on the bottom but now nothing i try works (Kual is not starting and the hotfix just gives me the "invalid update file" error.)

Any chance for me to still fix this or am i out of luck?

Try to reinstall KUAL with the PROPER file for your device,

Well i already copied the 2.6 Kual "KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2" into the documents folder. (and if im not completely incompetent today that should be the right file for a PW2)

As for the necessary "Mobileread Kindlet Kit" i cant reinstall that because the update kindle button stays greyed out, and i cant install anything with mrinstaller because KUAL does not start.

1) Might be a problem.
2) But this seems to say not so.
3) Now that is certainly a problem.

If looking for bragging rights -
Your the first person to report firmware 5.7.2 messing up our jail break's "auto-rescue" feature.

That is all I know about the problem -
NiLuJe will have to answer with more details.

You may need a serial port connection to fix it (and to answer NiLuJe's questions about what got damaged).

Oh, right, forgot to update the hotfix for 5.7.2.

Well im able to start KUAL again and my Screensavers are back, so im guessing everything is working correctly again, thanks for the quick fix

Sorry that I didn't have up to date information for you.

You will need MrPI working, you might check that also.

already did, after the hotfix only kual was working again so i grabbed a couple of updates (linkss, usbnet, rescue pack, ...) and installed them with MrPi

Thanks, I see, but Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install.bin is dated 18.08.2015. Is it correct?

Not the hotfix one. You're most likely looking at the one from the JB release.
