I don't think restarting calibre has anything to do with it. I think it's a matter of TtH's author page(s) being out of sync or something for a while when a story is updated. But I need to see it before I can fix it--assuming I can.
I've uploaded a new debug version on the earlier post that dumps the auth page(s) to the debug log. If I can see a copy of a debug log from this version with the problem occurring it should help. |

Is there a way to pick up the original authors on stories like these from AO3?

Quick Title Page Question
I like to include the results of the Count Pages plugin on the TitlePage. I have successfully managed to have FFF use the Pages custom column and include the number. Perfect.
The only **kind of** problem, is that it seems the Count Pages plugin kicks in to update the page number AFTER the title page is generated. This means that the Title Page shows the page count from before the update. As of now, I simply leave it as a wrong count (not too important while it is a WIP) until the fic is either completed or abandoned, then manually change that field on the Title Page. I have no problem continuing to do that, but since I'm thinking of linking the Count Words option the same way, I figured I would ask if there's something I can do. 90% of the time, I've simply overlooked something really simple, so figured I would ask ![]() |

For those following along at home, that story shows the story by-line as "Arien [archived by HASA_Archivist]". FFF picks up the author name as HASA_Archivist only because it looks for author link(s) to find author(s). I don't want to grab the entire by-line and use it as author name because I know AO3 stories can have multiple authors. But I don't have any in my library, so an example of that would be appreciated if someone has one. (calibre search: authors:#>1 and publisher:archiveofourown) Also, if "archived by" this is a thing, what else might by-line contain? My current inclination is to add a new site specific metadata 'byline' that would contain the entire by-line string, "Arien [archived by HASA_Archivist]" in this case. Opinions? |

What I personally do is use a Calibre Metadata Plugboard to alter the title that appears on my devices to include series, title, word count, and tags. Something like: Code:
{series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|[|] - }{title}{#wordcount:| (|)}{tags:| [|]}{#extranotes:| [|]} --> title Last edited by JimmXinu; 01-24-2016 at 11:20 AM. Reason: Add 'from a custom column' |

It would help if I had a couple examples of AO3 stories with multiple authors and if anyone else knows of other stories with by-lines that aren't just the author.

Here's a story with multiple authors:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/5779567 I have many more stories with the same by-line, that I've already given you as an example: http://archiveofourown.org/works/4215097 |

Are there any Mac users who can confirm (or deny) that they're able to download from forums.sufficientvelocity.com with the current Calibre and plugin?
Here's a short example story: https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/25107/ I have a report on the mail list from a Mac user who's getting SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE errors. Thanks. |

I've tested the newest version and the new byline-feature works fine. Thanks for the work.

Date format using custom column
I know there was already a post some time ago, either explaining how or explaining why not, but I haven't been able to find it.
Because of other issues, I have to update only the title page when a fiction is completed (to get the accurate word and page count from the plugin), and in doing so it changes the Packaged (created) date, which I don't want, meaning I have to then modify that field. I've been able to replace the current 'dateCreated' field with the date in my custom '#packaged' column, but the formatting for the date shows up wrong, no matter what changes I try in the personal.ini file. I would prefer it to be formatted in the same manner as the other entries (datePublished and dateUpdated), which I have as %%B %%d, %%Y. |

I'm not sure whether to put this question in here or general calibre.
Some old fics (e.g. this) are formatted in such a way that there's a linebreak after every 60ish characters. This is annoying to read when on an e-reader, after downloading it through FFF. Is there a way, using either Calibre or FFF, to remove the linebreaks automatically when downloading/converting? Thanks. |
