Could neither update new chapters nor download new fics after updating the fanficfare plugin on my calibre earlier today.

The error logged was "can't find module html5lib.sanitizer".

Probably not relevant, but I download fics from Ao3 & Whofic.

html5lib.sanitizer is definitely in the plugin zip.

I suggest downloading / installing the plugin again and making sure you restart calibre afterwards.

And I like to have story URLs that demonstrate the problem for you with all problem reports, even if you think it's something universal.

Having issues downloading from tthfanfic.org when the story need you to confirm your an adult, I do have it set in the personal.ini and was working before I updated to 2.2.17.

I briefly saw this problem too, but now I'm not seeing it.

So I suspect it may have been a temporary problem with the site.

Sometimes when i download from quotev i get the error 'NoneType' object has no attribute '__getitem__' and it wont download the story. Whats causing that?

I just had the same problem a few minutes ago in the plug-in with http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-25627, despite having my personal.ini set to adult and restarting calibre last night after updating the plug-in. I could download the story successfully with the web app, though. Then I noticed that I had three other stories open in the viewer in calibre. I closed all three, restarted calibre again, and that seems to have resolved the issue. It's possible that the e-book viewer was open when I updated and then restarted calibre, which is probably not the best way to update.

I think I might have an idea what's going on with this, but I need some more data.

Attached is a debug version of the plugin that will give a different error message if I'm right. I'd appreciate anyone who can see the error with this version posting about it--including a debug log if possible.

UPDATE: Attached version changed to try finding story on auth page differently.

UPDATE2: Attached version changed to dump auth page(s) to debug log.

UPDATE3: Now included in test version, zip removed.

I installed the test version (personal.ini on my install is set to adult, and it worked in the prior version). The issue seems to be somewhat random - sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't. I shut down Calibre and restarted it several times; on the 4th restart, the error went away and the update downloaded.

How do you locate the debug log? Or, do you just just want us to copy and paste the error message from the clipboard? Here is the content of the "view log" button I got with this error before it went away:

Under the Calibre Preference dropdown, there's an option to restart in debug mode. Also Ctrl-Shft-R in Windows.

Because TtH paginates author story lists FFF has to be able to look through multiple pages of stories to find the right one for metadata collection.

I suspect that TtH is either in the midst of changing the author story list HTML, or there's some time component that causes the author story list to lag on TtH. Otherwise, I can't explain why it works 'later'.

I've uploaded a new debug version on the earlier post that tries looking through the author story list a different way. It might work better.

I just attempted to download a random fic, and the the debug version still exhibits the same problem. I'm attempting to upload a copy of the Calibre debug log (username/password redacted) with this post in case it helps to clarify the issue.

If it keeps happening, I'll run in debug mode for a while to see if anything else pops up.

If you try again now does it still fail? When I try to download it works.

I had the same problem this evening with the story steltek reported on, http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-30822 , when I tried to update it an hour ago. I downloaded your debug version and still had the problem, but a few minutes ago, after I opened and closed calibre several times, it updated successfully.

I saved debug logs both before and after I installed your test version. Would you like me to post one or both?
