No, but it turns out that it works really, really well. We had >60,000 attendance over the 4 days of curling. Seems Canadians are all snowbirds at heart.

Venue was fine, curling was great, and the whole thing was broadcast in Canada. But NOT in the US, who were hosting it. Go figure.

This morning, a big mug of Peet's English Breakfast Blend tea.

Actually I can't complain about winter. About ten days so far where I thought it was ugly and its not now.

We're buried in ice down here, but no reason not to enjoy a good local brew. Today it's NoDa Brewing Company's Cavu - Inspired by Todd’s experience as a pilot, CAVU (Ceiling And Visibility Unlimited) is a flight term used to describe clear skies or ideal conditions. Earlier today, a mug of Murchie's English Breakfast Blend. Not bad. I think this can be a reasonable substitute for my preferred but no longer available Peet's English Breakfast. Then, I had a mug of Murchie's Paris Afternoon Blend that I got 2 oz of to try. Yech. Not a mistake I'll repeat. Nowhere in the description did it say it was a flavoured tea, but it clearly has to be -- it couldn't naturally taste and smell like that.

Finishing up the evening with a wee dram of Port Charlotte.

Indeed. Even a Canadian might consider this much snow a significant annoyance.

And neither DC nor any of the other places hit is really equipped to handle anything like this amount.

A dry day so far here, but I don't expect that to continue. I look for the rain to return this afternoon. Though goodness knows we don't need it right now.

A second pot of tea. The minivan is shoveled out and I'll shovel out my wife's car tonight. It may be a week or so before we get any mail delivered -- the snow plow (when it finally arrives) makes one pass up our street and then backs out along the same path -- there's no "turn around" at the end of our dead end.

The good news is that this time around we're not scheduled for an arctic blast of sub-freezing weather -- the high temps this week are all forecast to be above freezing. Of course, this sets up a scenario for "black ice" forming on the roads at night, but I'm looking on the bright side!

I also have a good snow shovel with an adjustable "lever-type" aux. handle.

And, I'm having no trouble keeping up with my resolution to do more exercise this year!
