@ Tex:
Re quotes: in Polish, direct speech may be not only be enclosed by quot. marks, the use of dashes is legit too. So much for a single "hard coded" quot class. That sarmatformat is the ebook equivalent of Esperanto: An enthusiastic outsider has a well meant rough draft idea, alas no practical or even theoretical knowledge for smooth and polishing. (Zamenhof was a medic, no linguist) re roman numerals: what if the reader prefers vi? ![]() @ Hitch Mary Magdalene was a redhead too ![]() |

@Freeshadow, the format doesn't support vi -- only vim (via a plugin).
But honestly, you're better off with emacs, it's a much better browser + it's supported in the base install (right underneath the games). Last edited by eschwartz; 01-02-2016 at 10:15 PM. |

Regarding the "continuation" quote marks (when a quoted block takes several paragraphs), since tags must be properly nested, one cannot have: Code:
<p>He said: <q>Lorem ipsum.</p> <p>Dolor sit amet.</q></p> Code:
<p>He said: <q type="continued">Lorem ipsum.</q></p> <p><q type="continuation">Dolor sit amet.</q></p> |

Perhaps not, but one can write write:
Code:
<p>He said: “Lorem ipsum.</p> <p>“Dolor sit amet.”</p> |

Nope. It's a convention. One that has changed in the past and will very likely change again in the future. Typography has never been static and/or definitive. It has always been governed by various (and differing) conventions.

You are probably right. And, 'tis--or was, rather--true.
Quote:
It certainly hasn't HELPED, that's fer damn sure. :-) Well, various redheads go different ways. My sister and I both went "brown." From auburn heads, we both ended up with a color I call (in polite company) "crap Irish brown." (you can imagine for yourself what the first word is when not in same). My aunt went to an oddball strawberry-blonde color, which was indeed a blonde-ish-coppery-color. I don't think you could emulate it out of the box. She gave up and went with a golden-blonde color (oui, from the salon, not mother nature). Aging red hair just...does things you don't expect. (For those few of you who still have aging in front of you!). My red strands that turned grey, turned a silver-white, which was groovy, right up to the point that I realized--gasp--it is also curly as hell. Which would also be fine if the rest of my head was covered with curly hair--which it isn't. It's straight as a stick, thick, and quite long (the ends tickle the top of my glute muscles, ahem!). THAT's been a real surprise. How, after all, can you have two completely DIFFERENT types of hair on one's head? Not merely a different color--no, that would be too easy. But it's as though two different sets of DNA are living inside my damn scalp. For ****'s sake! Aging begrudgingly gracefully into a crone silver-haired goddess, Hitch |
