Sorry Katie, I don't know what exact information you want but while I still have all the emails on a word doc (10 pages worth) I'm not going to post anything here. Pdurrant has posted his replies which is pretty much what I got, the initial emails anyway.

My priority is to keep my Amazon account, we are Prime members and DH loves the music, as well as the ebooks so we don't want to jeopardise it in any way.

How Many Would you have sent back IF You had Not got the Letter? Did the Letter get you to change you shopping habits? IF It did then maybe it was a good thing...

None, I don't order and send back on a whim, I never have. Those orders even included two device cases that fit perfectly. I am more careful with third party sellers and read more reviews now before ordering that's all. All orders are low value as well, especially with the recent No Rush shipping discounts.

One order turned out to be a mistake, £18.50 worth of iPad Air case. It was far too heavy, but we kept it. Stuck it in the loft and wrote the money off. I refuse to return to Amazon now, which is actually what they want anyway.

But how do we know the Kindle was not blacklisted when Amazon closed the account so the Kindle could not then be registered to a different account? Have you had an account closed on you while owning a Kindle? If not, then there's no way to know unless Bokes can tell us by trying to register his Kindle to another account.

I hope you realize by ordering so much Amazon is going to see you abusing the Prime system. You need to bundle your orders as much as possible if you want to keep your account.

Amazon here in the US stopped these type orders by creating add in items where you must purchased $25 or more to order most low value items. There are ways around it by buying from merchants but there is a big reason it's in place because of people abusing the free shipping from Prime which means Amazon is losing money from all those mini orders. Amazon has a right to protect themselves from this type of abuse.

I (almost) always place orders seperatly. Sometimes (many?) Amazon combines them when shipping, sometimes they don't.

Amazon is smart enough to combine orders for shipping.

We have that in the UK too, the add-on items only ship with orders of £20 or more. These are usually items that are less than £3 or thereabouts.
As far as I am concerned, anything that comes up with the option of free Prime next day (or same day) delivery is fine to have as a single order, otherwise what's the point of having Prime?

Yet again I have to defend myself.

Amazon deliberately ran a promotion to avoid Prime Shipping. They knew customers would use that promotion to its fullest. I placed a few orders, over the two times they ran the promotion, around Black Friday and again prior to Christmas I placed 26 orders in total. Other members on here place far more, including Pdurrant who said he placed around 150 orders.

Can I please ask members to stop attacking me all the time. Pick on someone else for a change.

Edited to say it wasn't 26 orders, it was 9 during the Black Friday promotion and 12 pre Christmas. I know that by the amount of no rush shipping credits I received.

No, he didn't. He said he placed around 50 orders, which is very different. It's important to be accurate when citing others.

That said, discussion of the Prime no-rush shipping credit is far outside the purpose of this thread. I'd like everyone to take such comments elsewhere.

They do have the add in items, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it as there are plenty of cheap items that aren't add in and more expensive items that are.

I think the add in items are more the weight than the price. I know I had to order something else to get 2 $6 items. They were very light weight.

Now back to the topic,

The "other" returns were of the "I changed my mind" variety. Which I felt was in line. They do give that option in the "reason for return" drop down menu.
My point against Amazon is simply- if you're going to offer a lot of items- you are going to sell a lot of items and sometimes those items get returned for various reasons. I worked retail. We never refused a return unless it was past the return date.

As far as going to Apple- I bought a few E-books from them. I also purchased books from Barnes and noble (I have an old nook and it works fine.)
I don't care where I get an e-book from. It's words on a screen.

I just checked my Amazon orders. For the last several years I've been ordering between 100 and 150 items a year. Before 2008 it was closer to 40 or 50 a year. Before 2006, when I got Prime, it was 6 or 8 a year.

Those items are predominantly small purchases but quite a few were laptops, desktops, monitors and tablets. I have a lot of computer stuff.

I don't have any record of my returns but just offhand I'd estimate it was less than 5 a year. Probably half that but I'm not very sure of that.

I once bought an Archos tablet, several years ago, that was defective but the price had dropped so much I ordered a replacement. Six replacements later I finally got a good one. That year was probably when I had the most returns.

I also ordered one of the early Acer Windows tablets for about $700 and kept it for a couple of weeks and decided I didn't like it and returned it even though there wasn't anything wrong with it. Amazon never expressed any qualms about that. That might be the only thing I've returned simply because I didn't care for it.

A couple of years ago I had problems with something, I forget just what, and I got their support people on the phone and they were helping me figure out what to do about it. I didn't know what to do or what I wanted to do or what I could do and I told her that and she said something like "With your customer status you can do anything you like and it'll be fine." I didn't ask her for more information about that but it really surprised me.

At least that does tell me that they have some way of rating their customers. I have no idea what it might be. My guess is it's based on my amazing good looks.
