Nope not really I rechecked the web site Even put my address in for Shipping. Still says Free. Confused I give them a call when I get closer to ordering. Ouch another international call At 25 cents per min this is getting sooo not worth it....

I believe the free shipping is only for addresses in Canada. I am in the U.S. and paid around $15 or $16 for shipping before the exchange rate.

You can get it from the Kobo US website, but it is $120 including shipping. Alternately, they do sell through independent bookstores in the US, but the price is likely to be the same. You can see if they sell in a store near you here:

Why call?

When you place your order, you will see that it is not free shipping.

Mostly to make sure I put enough money in my sons account.

UPDATE!
My PW2 Has Arrived in KY & Del this morning! So now just need to wait for Amazon to put the refund back into my sons account.

I went to check the PW3 see if they were still on sale.. they are. Yesterday I had to pay Full sale price no other options Today I can make monthly payments $20 per month .... So Tempting!

Update on store they Sell Glo HD but are out of stock till after New Year.
Which is ok since I am in no hurry...no money till Amazon Refunds my money back.

Kobo used to be sold in the USA in Borders, which later went under. It's sad that they're not sold in other stores now but kind of understandable. Obviously bookstores see them as competition. Stores like Walmart that sell books quit selling ereaders. They used to sell Kindles but decided they were competing with themselves and stopped.

Stores that don't sell books probably don't have much interest in selling ereaders and if they did they'd probably look into selling Kindles or even Nooks, which are better known in this country.

My guess is that Kobo would love to have outlets in this country but nobody in retailing is interested. Too bad because my other guess is a lot of readers would be interested.

OK Got Question Since to me they PW3 & the Glo HD seem to be the same ... yes feel free to point out the differences. Which has the Best Battery life? Which has the Least Problems with Bright white spots on the screen? Course that would be personal opinions based on How many complains you noticed posted... just trying to figure out the Best of the 2 products...

I use to walk into WalMart they have Tons of Different Brands of eReaders. Now they have None. My 1st ereader was Nook purchased at Books-a-Million Just Junk They too stopped selling them. Target had Nooks & Kindles but now they have just Nooks ...think they have a fight with Amazon but not sure. I could go on but wont. I Never Seen Kobo ereaders in Any Store! Not in Borders in Hagerstown MD nor Waldens in my town. Which Both closed when Borders went under.
Hard for me to buy anything I cant get my hands on I really like to Look things over before I buy. On Line buying sucks. B&M stores are going by way of the dodo bird

Based on MR forum posts, I'd say the Glo HD has the least amount of trouble with light spots. Also, going by the specs, the Glo HD has more battery life between charges.

Best battery life? Hard to say.

Kobo says up to 2 months "dependent on usage"

Amazon says "A single charge lasts up to six weeks, based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 10. Battery life will vary based on light and wireless usage"

Without knowing some kind of actual usage scenario for the Kobo similar to how Amazon give an example it's pretty hard to really glean anything from Kobo's up to 2 months statement. I'd guess that both are fairly close in battery life. The Kobo has a 1500 mAh battery, not sure what capacity the PW3 has (the PW1 had a 1420 mAh battery).

As for brightspots, pinholes, whatever you want to call them I'm not sure if one is better than the other. I've seen complaints for both and AFAIK the screens come out of the same production process for the basic screen (although the Kindle is capacitive touch & the Glo HD is IR).
