Are you referring to the "not compatible with Windows 10" stuff in that page I linked, or are they actually not supporting some recent hardware?
Fortunatly, I haven't needed Lenovo support, and everything seems to be working on my systems, so I'm not aware of an issue.

First, it has much less options than Windows 7 and older.
Second, you can't choose your own font. (I normally use Verdana on Windows 7 and before, now I *have* to use Segoe UI, if I don't want to hack around in the registry.)
Third, on Windows 10, I can't change font sizes anymore when I use the DPI settings.

I'm referring to the "don't upgrade to Windows 10 because our hardware is incompatible" warnings. Even upgrading to 8.1, they had warnings, and sure enough, I had plenty of headaches trying to get things working on it.

I can't really judge them too harshly for not supporting their hardware on an OS that didn't exist when the hardware was sold. It's not like they promised it would work.
I think that's different than 'not supporting' it, period, even on the OS for which it was sold. I don't think they've done that, have they?

That being said, I can totally see getting behind a vendor who does make the effort to keep up development for older hardware on new OSes.

The same is true of every computer sold at the time, though. You make it sound like they are in some kind of unique position here. It's not like I'm complaining that I can't upgrade a computer that came with XP to Windows 10. I don't think it's unreasonable for a consumer to expect that a brand new laptop should be able to upgrade to the next version of Windows, which was being tested less than a year later, without needing explicit promises from the manufacturer.

For those who don't want to be forcibly upgraded to Windows 10, here's an article about it -- and includes a link to software that monitors Microsoft's repeated attempts to download and install Windows 10 "upgrades."

Thanks for the link. I've installed the software and it found 4Gb of data on my desktop which has now been delete. My netbook came up clean.

So my laptop just upgraded to what I guess is a new build and it's been stalled at the lock screen for hours. Clock is working but I can't to the login screen. Hard drive seems to be busy but should it take this long? The original upgrade from July didn't take this long.

I have a Dell laptop that I had been using as a platform for testing and trying out every type of OS that I could thing of. When I finally got tired of that I decided to restore it back to the OEM windows 7 then see if it would update. I found I did not have the OEM disk I contacted Dell and they send me to a site to down load windows 7 home premier. I installed it and it said my OEM key was not correct I contacted MS, the number that was on the screen. I was asked if my phone was a smartphone, and I said yes then I was texted with a site to go to and I entered the numbers on the screen and it texted me back with a series of numbers, I entered them and my windows 7 was activated.
I tried to update with the windows update but it would hang at downloading updates. I finally went to the windows insider website and downloaded and created a usb installer for windows 10 and it did the upgrade. I did not have any apps on my laptop so I let it do a clean install. This seemed to take for ever. Finally it let me log in and then it said it was adding my desktop and that took forever. But after the system let me in I could get the final updates and now I have to say it is working great, but I had to disable hibernation due to it not restarting some important services after it woke up. I have to say it is nice to have the laptop back with the operating system that connects of my wife's work computers.

Yes finally. It took a couple reboots after to get all drivers and software to load right but it seems okay now.

I'd say it took about four and half for me. I've never ever ever had a software installation take that long! That's just crazy! No warning about updating either I just opened my laptop and there it went. I missed out making my daily goal on Swagbucks because of it. I'm not happy with Microsoft right now.

After getting the Critical Start Menu error last week on my Surface I'm so glad my laptop is W7 and will stay that way.
