Buenard exists only with a regular (400) and bold (700) font. It looks like Baskerville, though it's a different font.

As a regular-and free- font, I find Buenard amazing. You can side-load it with Kobo, and, it also works very well, if need be, with the advanced font control from Metazoa.

It looks like a very nice font. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any italics variant, which is a showstopper for me.

I never want to return to the days of the Sony PRS-505 and its lack of true italics!

Same opinion here. Really good font but it's a shame the lack of italics.

I have the exact same problem with the Modified Charis font as well, in kepubs. The same splitting on the last line is also evident in the Amassis font as well. For that reason, I switched to the modified Times Roman font, which I love. I'll try the Charis Compact font, and see how that works.

EDIT: The Compact Charis font worked, but I have since switched to Bookerly. I extracted the fonts from the latest Voyage firmware, and put the Bookerly font on the Kobo. Lovely font. Really love it.

I know technically it might be pirating, but morally, I think not since Amazon makes them accessible.

Bitter HT is quite good alternative for Bookerly font. I even like it more. And it's free.

Well, I wasn't asking for the font. I own a PW3 with the bookerly font. I was merely looking for instruction. Understood though. Didn't even think about the font copyright.

What's the difference between Bitter HT and Bitter? I couldn't find any info.

AFAIK there are no official different versions of this font. Bitter is a font by Huerta Tipografica, which might explain the HT.

One problem I've noticed with Bitter is that, although it has a lot of kerning pairs, it is missing kerning for some of the most obvious cases such as Wo, Ve, etc.

Edit: A good example of the problem is that it includes kerning for the rare pair Xe, but no kerning for the much more common We, Ve, Ye.

I get that there is a trend to use slab serifs for the body texts, there is even slab serifs like Caecilia that is designed for body; but I am never really comfortable with them.

It's not hard thing to fix.
Since Alreader on my Nook does't support kerning I haven't noticed that.
