Advertising can be tricky, indeed, but I don't understand Kobo. So far in the contest I've won coupons ranging from 10 to 25 per cent -- so I'm unlikely to use them when they release an unlimited use 30% coupon. I don't know what kind of useful information they get from that. But you're seeing both those deals. Perhaps not everyone does. They have marginalized the trivia contests in the last year, but they have also just lowered the grand prize. Could be they are weaning us off the trivia contests entirely?

That may be true for you, but I have it on very good authority (other contributors from this forum) that 10-25% coupons are still used in great numbers. I can only assume that enough of the low value coupons get used by customers with infrequent purchases that it's worth it for Kobo to run the contest to tempt those customers back to the website, even though so many of the coupons "won" are not as good as one of their frequently occurring 30% off sales. Also, some Kobo unlimited use coupons are better than others. I know that some books accept the current contest coupons but don't accept the NOV30 unlimited use coupon.

I do have to wonder if as many people are using the codes any more. There are far less people posting them here and there used to be lots of posts from people asking for codes, now that doesnt happen. No one has PM'd me for the 30% codes I have to give away either.
I must admit, I rarely use them, even the higher ones. Its rare a book I want will accept a code and even when it does, its still often cheaper to buy from Amazon.
As someone else suggested, I do suspect the contest is winding down before disappearing completely.

I can't remember the last time that I used a contest code. I've had 90% codes and just don't buy anything from Kobo other than that.

The contest codes only work in UK CA and US and there's soo many books that aren't discountable that I don't even bother checking those countries.

I still play the Contest, only to see if I can win (another!) device.

I definitely use the codes, mainly because they are cheaper for books I want compared to Amazon. But I admit that I rarely use coupons under 30%.

Since the contest codes have been restricted to countries where the big publishers are not discountable, they are no longer of much use to me. But I still use a lot of other promo codes, I bought a heap of books with the recent multi-use 50% code, and I still use 20%-35% codes regularly.

Yes, I must concede I have been very lucky. I do have to wonder what the odds of winning not one, not two but 3 ereaders are. I never gamble and I dont enter a lot of competitions but the rare times I do, I often win.
