I don't think it's likely to happen either. It's good to know you can request a correction though.

As has been said, though, Amazon are entirely free to apply whatever criteria they wish when closing accounts. They can do so for any reason, or no reason at all. Nobody has a "right" to be able to shop at Amazon.

I suspect their algorithm is pretty complicated and even their reps do not know exactly what trigger warning, flagging, and account closing. Hence the vague and unhelpful communication. |

They are right in my opinion. People who return the books constantly are just throwing them into Calibre to remove DRM and immediately publishing them on IRC. Book piracy should not be condoned.

The accounts that are being closed are rarely because people are returning ebooks.

But this has absolutely nothing to do with book piracy, so that's all right then, isn't it? ... It only takes one person to upload a stolen ebook, and it is forever available to anyone who wants to illegally download it. And they'll use a throwaway account for it anyway. And (unless you spend inordinate amounts of time stripping them out, which most people probably don't think of) the books that they upload will still contain the Amazon metadata/watermarks identifying the account that purchased them. Which is really a much better way of identifying pirates than assuming everyone who returns a lot of books is a professional ebook thief. Last edited by eschwartz; 11-18-2015 at 03:35 PM. |

I hope that makes sense. I mean a cigarette thief, isn't going to steal the cigarettes from a store and then return them for a refund. No they are going to sell them to others for a profit to themselves while undercutting the stores. |
