I don't think it's in Amazon's interest to set out an explicit policy for this, and it appears that (in the UK, at least) consumer law doesn't require them to do so. I'd be surprised if you get anything concrete back.

You may be confused about what I'm asking. I'm not asking anything about why they might choose to close an account, only the effects such a closure will have.

Amazon made a public statement in 2012 that content would be accessible. And now Amazon Customer Service are saying the opposite.

I think it's reasonable to ask for clarification.
