This option was recently added in beta (not implemented exactly as you envisioned, but still an option). I am unsure if it has been released generally. If it has been released then when you are in a book details window click on the three dots (more?) menu and the bottom choice is Open book with ... If you don't see this option then know that it will be soon available to the public.

The related option Settings / Tapping books in list/grid controls whether what tap and long-press do: open book details or launch the default reader. If you don't set a default reader then every time you "read" a book the chooser menu will appear. |

Would it be possible for cc to copy the sending books to device template from calibre. I download books from my dropbox account sometimes and the books are saved differently. Or move the books using calibre template when I connect to calibre. If the template language is to complex for calibre companion.

Hability of setting a max. length to "comment" field

			Hello Chaley,

I use Calibre Companion for about three years now, mostly in "booklist" configuration, with the "comment" tag displayed in third line of additional informations. Somme comments are much more longer than others and, therefore, much more higher than the cover display, so I wonder if it could be possible to get the option of truncating (in this view) this particular field to an optional length, just as it is done for the "Author" field. An other way could be to be able to fix a "line max length" for each "column" of the book customization added information. for your attentionMaxime |

				Default-action for the connect button

I have a dim-witted relative who cannot seem to remember which of Calibre Companion's connect options conjures which function. As they have final grasped how to send e-books from Calibre to an e-reader over a cable, I'm hoping you could make it possible to add a default-action option for the connect button. So that when pressed the connect button will automatically attempt to connect to Calibre via a predefined choice of either Wireless Device, Content Server or Cloud. With no drop-down menu or other confusing options.

My choice would be to connect exclusively as a Wireless Device. This way the connect button will provide a similar experience to that with the e-reader. And hopefully they'll no longer need to ask me what to do every 5 mins. Thanks very much for your time and for considering this request. |

How about instead of that, an option to hide connect options (in the same way you hide sorts) that a user doesn't care about. That way people who use more than one type would still benefit, and Grace could still hide all of them except for wireless so that her family wouldn't bother her. |

Please make it possible to read books/documents from the CC Library in the cloud, rather than having to download them to storage-challenged devices.

At some point calibre's content server will have a built-in reader. Kovid is actively working on this project. However (and once it exists), using it would require you to have a 24/7 content server running, and CC would play no role. |

			Hi, everybody,

I was wandering if anybody would be interest by a "recents" group. I usualy work this around by setting the sort of "no grouping" on date added to CC. Anyway I long for a customizable "recents" book group with the ability (in the settings) of retaining books either from last week, last month, last three monthes... or last added. I think this could quite easily been implemented, as CC keeps memory of date added. But it is not necessarely worth the work for it if I am the only one interested. Maxime |

I'm not sure I understand what the value of this is. How is this different than what you are doing now, but just limiting how far back you look in the list? |
