Ah yes. Those. I managed to avoid both 50 Shades and Twilight, and I can definitely see how they might become a little too much in larger doses. Or in minor ones, for that matter.

While I certainly don't mind having lots of sex in my books, it needs to be justified sex. As in, it makes sense within the plot and the character context, and isn't just used as filler/crutch to make up for the fact that the book has very little else going for it. If I wanted to be exposed to second rate writers using sex for filler material, I'd watch prime-time TV.

I agree. I got tired of filler sex and no real plot. That's exactly why I started reading other genre's and even non romances. some of my favorite series I started later turned into exactly that. The first few books had a good plot going but it's like the later books became more and more filler.

I'm always in the market for well written serial killer thrillers, so if you know of any, please send them over. (And please not Carolyn McCray.)

And to paraphrase what I said earlier, if I want filler sex without plot, I'll read erotica. Though the line between the two is fine and often blurry, there does need to be something that distinguishes erotic romance from straight up erotica... preferably a solid plot and character development.

Also make sure you don't have a space after the last digit/letter in the code or the site doesn't recognize it as a valid code.

The Lion's Daughter by Loretta Chase

Spoiler:
New York Times bestselling, award-winning author Loretta Chase’s first full length Regency Historical Romance! Gorgeous, stubborn Esme Brentmor, daughter of a disgraced lord, is used to a wild, dangerous life among the tribes of Albania, to whom her father is the legendary, controversial Red Lion whose death she's courageously vowed to avenge –even if it leads to her own. Instead, her quest finds her rescued by the most unlikely (and very reluctant) hero! Lazy and spoiled, Lord Varian St. George has gambled away his heritage and lives on his considerable looks, charm and wits. All he wants is the good life, and instead, he finds himself in rough country, with a tempestuous whirlwind of a female who's as savage as he's civilized. How did this termagant become his responsibility? And how can he escape?! Yet as he and Esme plunge headlong into even more peril, he may surprise even his own jaded self and become the man that Esme (foolishly) believes he is!

I have not bought anything from either of the series that have proven to be stolen goods, but that was just luck I found out about them via the Digital Reader and Goodreads today. This well and truly sucks!

I hear there will be legal action on the parts of the wronged authors. They have my sympathies, along with wishes for success in their efforts. Plagiarism hurts everybody, readers, writers and publishers alike.
Can you point me to where I can find more information about the series that where plagiarised please, I read some off her books and would like to know more about this. I searched in goodreads an Digital Reader about this but nothing came up, so I must be doing something wrong.

P.J. Tracy Monkeewrench Series
Karen Rose Daniel Vartanian Trilogy
J. A. Konrath Jack Daniels Series (excellent in audio)
Alex Kava Maggie O'Dell Series
Susan Hill Simon Serrailler Series (not your typical series)
Tess Gerritsen Rizzoli and Isles Series (nothing like the TV show)

There's some off the top of my head. I've read all those and enjoyed them.
Well, listened to Konrath. And I guess I should say I"m still working my way through the Susan Hill series. They are not happy ending books. But I'm up to date on all the other series.

NA, RS, Free: Never Never Part One - Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

Spoiler:
Never Never, a novella series. Book one of three.

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.
Complete strangers since this morning.
He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.

“Never have I had my mind blown reading a book like I have reading Never Never. It was intense, sweet, completely unpredictable and utterly fascinating. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!” ~Jen, The Book Avenue

“Hoover and Fisher have combined their unique talents to deliver a deliciously twisted tale of deceit, love and friendship that keeps you guessing long after the heart-stopping end.” ~Vilma’s Book Blog

“Twisted, sickly wicked, yet warming with a deep-layered love story. Tarryn and Colleen combine their forces for good. Alone they are talented. Together this epic duo is unstoppable.” ~Pam, The Book Avenue.

"The evil queen and the good fairy of romance have come together, and the results are more than I could have ever asked for." ~Holly's Hot Reads

This novella is recommended for readers age 16+ due to mild language and sexual content.

Free, Wicked Games - Samanthe Beck

Spoiler:
Previously released as part of the Lovers Unmasked anthology. Now available individually!

When a battle of wills becomes a game of lust, one wrong move could be fatal.

Actress Stacy Roberts is ready to ride her rising star straight to Hollywood's A-list. All she needs is the famous Hollywood Hedonism party (check), one very naughty angel costume (check), and a few drinks to get her sexy swagger back (check, check). Tonight, she is not aching for her hot, hard-bodied ex. Or worrying about the threatening letters signed by "Your Worst Nightmare."

For Detective Ian Ford, "nightmare" doesn't begin to cover it. Whatever demons prompted Stacy to cut and run have him tied up in knots. Worse, his ex is dressed to kill any man with a pulse, and Ian is seeing red. If Stacy wants trouble, she'll find it. Only Ian's going to make damned sure that the only trouble she gets is with him. There are no rules. They either both win, or they both lose. But this time, there's an extra player--one who's determined to make sure this is the very last game Stacy plays...

The one that she was caught with is here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...ing-home-texas

It was supposedly the first in a "new series". The writer from whom she took an entire book changing only the character names and genders had already written 12 books in a series called "Texas Trouble" and it is quite obvious Ms. Harner had every intention of lifting those. You can read her post about it on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...98&pnref=story

Also the entire Deuce Coop series was copied directly from Opal Carew's Riding Steele. Details here: http://jennytrout.com/?p=9693

Still expecting to hear about more of her thefts; there's a possibility the m/f Highland series she has out is also of questionable authorship but that has yet to be confirmed.

Oh, and it's mentioned here on GoodReads that if you bought at Amazon, you can get a refund even after the date if you explain you're requesting it because of the admitted plagiarism.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...coop-episode-1

Editing to add this notice I just read on Becky McGraw's Facebook page: (quote) **NOTICE** If anyone has a copy of the Deuce Coop serial books, in ebook or paperback, please contact OPAL CAREW and send them to her instead of requesting a refund. Opal's email is opalcarew@bestromanceauthors.com. (/quote)
Am assuming this is part of whatever legal processes the wronged author and/or her publisher are engaged in. Evidence gathering? Anyway, there it is.

Edit #2: It gets uglier. http://lworrall.blogspot.ca/2015/10/...5643dbaaee9459

And, among other shenanigans, she is now blaming her daughter for lifting the Deuce Coop series. Ye gods! I cannot believe anybody would stoop so low.

Thanks for the Harlequin coupon-stacking tips. I waited until today to use them so I could get the new Avon historicals!

That's just strange. Send a DRM'd ebook or a paperback by email ?

It's easy enough to strip the DRM and email a copy of an ebook if you want to. Normally I would not do that (send a copy via email--I strip the DRM from everything I buy) but I wouldn't have a problem doing that if I had a copy of the requested plagurized book.
