I feel the same way not sure if I like this. I am wondering if they are still working on the overlays (carousel...etc) and will release later..... ![]() |

I'm guessing that is the case (that the usual Fire UI is not ready yet or is still 'under wraps' as it were), so you are just seeing unvarnished Android UI. From an app developer's perspective, the UI used to launch the app should be irrelevant.

I must admit I hope so. The carousel is one of the reasons I like the Fires over a stock android device.

I am more annoyed than I expected I would be, by the lack of ability to read any Kindle books on my 5.0 Fire HD. I love the nature wall papers that Amazon provides with the update, though. Absolutely beautiful.

It's like an Android tablet without Amazon's most favorite apps now. It is much cleaner. Never was a fan of the Carousel. Mine updated overnight as I'd had WiFi off for quite a while, and I'd requested the preview back in June and then forgot about it.

![]() I suspect Amazon wants to you buy something else before you read your own books. ![]() I figured that out before I realized I could access open apps / close apps just like on Android. LOL Most of my Audible titles are companions to Kindle books... so I can access them easily. I don't know if there's a workaround to getting into Audible? This will be a slight learning curve to Kindle Fire users that aren't familiar with Android. Last edited by copyrite; 07-10-2015 at 12:21 PM. |

Sounds like we should have another thread for this Lollipop stuff. I think I'm going to have to re-purpose my doing-nothing-at-the-moment Fire HD7 just so I can play with this too!

Hmm, much less fun is that most of my apps won't launch. Doesn't really matter to me for the time being, but my stock is going to fall with a friend's kids who find my Fire a source of endless entertainment.
ETA: When I go to Manage My Content and Devices, most of my apps now show as incompatible with my Fire. OK, the bad now outweighs the good! Last edited by issybird; 07-11-2015 at 11:38 AM. |

I won't complain about the HD6 being slow any more. It's much faster than my Nook HD Plus. No wonder no one uses it.

![]() Mine got so very slow as to be useless, so I went with the nuclear option, a factory restore. A PITA, but I got a $5 credit for registering a new Nook, lol, and at least it could be used again (although I admit I never do). |

Interesting differences in experiences....I watched a TV show on mine and it was fine, and played a card game. But trying to use it for tablety things like browsing the web, Newshog app....Slooowwww. So I'll just use it for streaming video, and stick with my Fire HD6 and my Nexus 7 for those tablety things.
I feel the Nook HD+ was a waste of money for us....as it has hardly been used in comparison to the 7" tablets. The HD6 is my favorite because of it's compact size. Plus I found good deals on the official case and those cases are awesome! All three of ours have them now. (My youngest girl has the hot pink case on her yellow tablet...she likes it LOL). The 2015 Fire line up is so disappointing....we are still using 2 of the 2012 Fire HD7s as well as 3 HD6s, and my MIL has the 2014 HD7. Such excellent hardware.
