Page turn speed with ePub has increased with firmware 3.17.0 on my H2O. I turn the page and by the time my eyes are at the top of the screen to continue reading, the page has turned and I'm off and reading. It's plenty fast enough.

Page turn speed always seemed like an odd metric to track after it got to the point that the screen refreshed before you could get your eyes from the bottom to the top and accurately begin tracking on the line of text. I find my H2O is at that point, but I use fullscreen mode to get as much as I can out of the screen size. I suppose with smaller devices reading kepubs the mix of smaller screen and the kepub header would allow for that not to be the case.

Ah but ... if you're reading kepubs the page turning is noticeably faster - so no problem anyway

I, too, cannot understand the obsession with super-fast page turn speed. It might be more useful with reference books, I suppose, where you're constantly paging back-and-forth.

I use .epubs and page turns are slower than the speed at which my eyes move to the top. My brain must pause between page turns and it is annoying and distracting and interrupts the flow of reading.

I use a Glo HD and a relatively small font.

I don't want "super-fast". I don't care to use page turn speed as a benchmark. I just want the normal expected speed of a page turn that doesn't interrupt reading flow.

If page turn speed is so important to you, why not use KePubs instead of ePubs?

Personally I find the page turn speed is just a matter of timing, I read KePubs and ePubs and so I just start the swipe to turn a page a tiny fraction of a second earlier when reading ePubs. It's not something I need to conciously think about though.

I would take the same view, if speed where the only factor. But I find it more complex. On my Aura HD, I see a noticeable and somewhat distracting loss of quality/contrast unless I choose a full refresh every page. A full refresh then introduces a (maybe more) distracting page transition. Faster page turns might mitigate this.

My H2O seems to retain contrast/sharpness without a refresh, so it's not a concern on that device.

Good afternoon,

My Aura HD updated from 3.15 to 3.17.3 this morning. Since then, Pocket has stopped syncing. Articles I archive are not archived on the server, and articles I add to Pocket do not download onto my ereader. Pressing 'refresh' from within Pocket does not appear to do anything. Syncing downloads books, etc., but does not download new Pocket articles.

Is anyone else having this issue, and is there a way of fixing it?

I agree - I lived with the speed of a Kobo Wifi until recently, and it did not really bother me. Just clicked the button as I started the last line on the page. When I first got my Aura I did not really detect the difference between the epub and the kepub. Now I see it, and find that I sometime wonder if the page has turned since it happens so fast. I only full refresh each chapter and am not bothered by the slight ghosting.

Some things such as fonts are easily done; see Summary of Modified Fonts which includes naming conventions and where to store fonts.

Library collections would require either managing them via calibre (see Quick Guide to Shelf Management with calibre 0.9.1 & above (Touch / Glo / Mini /Aura)), or updating the SQL database on the device (see AutoShelf beta).

Margins you might find some existing patches in the threads I pointed to in the earlier reply.

As far as speed / reflow ... get a dis-assembler and look at the executables.

Regarding options, and whether to have lots or few, to suit different tastes about menus:

Simple solution, have few options in the basic menu, then have an advanced users section of the menu, WITH (very key point) an easy to spot "return to defaults", that customer service can recommend for basic users who messed up things in the advanced section by showing enough initiative to look in it, but not enough initiative to problem solve their accidental adjustments.

You're welcome kobo
