That must be what the deal is. It looks as if Edge doesn't support add-ons at this time.

You don't need to activate Windows 10 if it comes pre-installed on the system - only an issue if you upgrade to 10 from 7/8.

(For unregistered versions)
But, then you don't get updates. Probably not important for a system with no Net access

I've had to activate and register every system I bought. In the past you could do it by phone as was stated above, but it still had to be registered/activated on power up.

unless of course you are buying it from a third party that has already registered it.

IIRC Authentication (Registration) does not happen until you personalize (name systen and user at first boot). the difference with the OEM, is the Key is preinstalled

I'm pretty sure I've even had to enter the key on the systems I've bought new, but that likely would not apply to Win 10 from what I understand as we all 'share' a key.

This is no fun any more. I'm getting the dark screen/monitor switching off/system still running thing anywhere between every couple of hours and every 10 minutes or so. No real idea what is causing it, as it happens when accessing iTunes (sometimes) or a YouTube video (sometimes), or when it's just sitting there not being used (maybe an update happening in the background?).

I have flash updated the BIOS to the latest version, updated all the drivers I could think of, including my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 driver, but all to no avail. Not sure where to go now...

Are you running Nvidia driver version 355.60, 64-bit for Windows 10? Some people are having trouble with that one, and have had better luck with 353.30. I'm happily running 353.62, the one that was released the same day as Win 10.

Older drivers can be found by going here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and clicking "Beta and Older drivers" in the list of links.

For a completely clean install, use Display Driver Uninstaller before trying the other driver. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/...-download.html

That totally sucks. That sort of thing would sends me over the edge! (and I don't mean the browser)

I think I'd roll back. If you haven't tried it already (sorry I haven't been following all the details) maybe try reinstalling Win 10 after rolling back. That solved the first win 10 update problem I was having on my Dell laptop.

Otherwise, I'd just roll back and wait, check the interwebz for others with the same system/problem and wait for it to be resolved or see if someone has solved it.

The upgrade bandwagon is rolling merrily along:

Over 50M so far. 100M should arrive by next month.
