Posting this because it states Netronix was responsible for designing and manufacturing every single Kobo e-reader over the last five years.

Netronix also manufactured devices sold as PocketBook 301 and PocketBook 360°.
They manufactured one of the first bookeen devices and a few others, like Cooler. The only difference was firmware.

Yep. The original Cybook Gen3 was a Netronix (a 300, I think. The 'Gold Edition' was a 600). Much like oodles of Jinke/Hanlin V3s were sold by OEMs under different names, like the BeBook One of fond memory (mine, at least )

In hardware, many of the readers are related even across brands... they all have arm architecture, eink driver, ... so I'd not be too surprised if someone managed to make alien firmware work.

However there is a lot of custom code on the Kobo, like the way it detects which make / model / resolution it should be using [based on the device's serial number stored on the SD card], that's not easily portable.
