Microsoft and Barnes & Noble join to form a new Nook company
Barnes & Noble just received $300 million from Microsoft as part of the two companies' new joint venture, Nook Media LLC (link). Microsoft will now own 17% of Barnes & Noble, and a new Nook app for Windows 8 is coming out soon.

What does that mean for my Nook Tablet? It will become obsolete faster? Or maybe the app store will finally be worthwhile.

It will be strange if this JV offers only Android-based readers in the future. But I suspect that Microsoft may not want even Windows Phone 8 on devices that cost only $100.
