Can someone tell me where on the page it would tell us if the book is restricted to certain formats please.

In this particular case, it is in the pull down menu where you send the book to. This is in the price box.

Most books, it used to be right under the book description and would say this book is only available on these devices with a link to open the devices.

Click on the tab where you select which of your devices you want your purchase delivered to. Eligible devices will be bold, ineligible devices will be grayed out.

You select the device before you buy. If it's grayed out then the book isn't available on that device.

thanks, I've never used that drop down list before. I just click buy & then send it to my pc. How did the OP manage to buy a book that was incompatible then. If it won't let you do it

I have K4PC set as my default device. For this book Amazon automatically changes the send to device to my HDX. If you have at least one compatible device, it's easy to miss that it will be delivered to a different device.

Either I'm missing the point (highly likely) or that is a bit sucky on Amazons part. If it isn't compatible with a Kindle, KindleforPC or Kindle Fire, I'm expecting a flashing neon sign on the page, & sirens.... this may be considered unrealistic by normal people however.

It IS compatible with all e-ink Kindles that are newer than 6 years old, as well as the Kindle Fires. It isn't compatible with Kindle for PC for some reason, though.

I would like a warning if a book ism compatible with my default, but I may not be normal...

I think it is compatible, but not sold for use with K4PC. If it's compatible with my K3, I can't imagine why it wouldn't be compatible with K4PC.

Yes...sorry. When I say "compatible" I mean "Amazon will sell it for use with".

Also, I just tried this book on a different Amazon account where the only device I have set up is Kindle for PC, and when I clicked the Buy button it wouldn't go through, it wanted me to set up the Kindle Cloud reader. So...if you don't have any devices that a book will work on, it *will* tell you before you buy.

Even if it didn't, Amazon has a no questions asked return policy on all e-books for 7 days, available from your Manage My Kindle page. After 7 days all you have to do is call to return

I bet if you had cloud reader set up the purchase would have gone thru. I don't use it but checked it out once so it is set up. I guess that means that nothing would be incompatible.
