I found that too with the origami cover, I now use a book style cover and the extra 3ml either side makes the difference.

My first Kindle was the K3 and even that was still pretty clumsy. They're making graceful devices now but it took them a while to get there. I got a Fire Phone a couple weeks ago and once again, Amazon's 1st gen is very weird and clumsy. I hope they do as well improving it as they did with the Kindles. But right now this thing is kind of a joke. I don't have service on it. It's mainly just an ereader in my pocket so I'm keeping it. It's pretty decent as an ereader but not much good for anything else. I think the thing about Amazon must be that they hire inept designers who know how to learn from their mistakes. Then they encourage them to make really big mistakes so they can really learn a bunch. And it seems to work. ![]() Barry |

I read for years on a Palm Pilot so learning that was important. Of course Palm was a lot easier to hold. Barry |

As much as I love my PW3 (which is great), I've just compared it to my gilfriend's new Voyage, and the Voyage's screen is on another league.
I've heard some reviewers say that the Voyage shouldn't be a good deal since the new PW3 is 300dpi. They are wrong. There's much more than dot pitch. Text on that flush screen looks so good! I couldn't tell in youtube videos and photos, but in real life you can tell. I'm definitely picking a Voyage 2 whenever is released, and keeping the PW3 as a second e-reader. I have been thinking about the Voyage recently as well, after those disappointing videos of the new PW. Unfortunately, even the Voyage 1 is still not internationally available on Amazon.com.
![]() I can only hope that either there will be a Voyage 2 soon or they'll make the Voyage 1 available at last. |

Ack, no idea. Was using the voyage sans its case over a period of two weeks, just putting it into a bare pocket, and somewhere along those two weeks (of course) it gets scratched somehow.
Really impressed with the device though, at the way I've been abusing it it should look much uglier haha |

@cerem0ny: It most be something in the air last couple of days
![]() After 5 years of owning 2 different Kindles and never causing even one scratch on them two days ago my mobile slipped from my hand and cracked PW1's light-guide, while I was sitting on the bed with Kindle on my lap. 10 second after I've open Kindle's case ![]() ![]() |

It is. For now I'm using it most of the time as if it were Kindle Touch, ie disabled the built-in light via KUAL extension and sitting in front of a lamp

Wonder if you could fill the scratch/crack with some sort of goo/polish, e.g. using stuff that comes with 'CD repair' kits (but I'm guessing it is cracked, not scratched, so it probably would not help much). I have been using my PW1 without a cover ever since I got it (at its release date) and no problems with damage. I just prefer having it as light and sleek as possible. Have not been particularly careful with it. It doesn't sound like a cover would have helped in this case, since the cover would have been open for reading.

It's a crack, and it on the bottom/inner side of the light-guide layer. So no way & no access to manipulate it.
I'll just have to live with it until I manage to save-up about 200 euros (import/custom fees here are very very high) for a new Paperwhite. Being un-employed ex-student it will take some time ![]() ![]() |
